I pit the Taliban

It seems the distance is really the issue here.

Because I know a lot of dopers (myself included) have expressed outrage at say, the increasingly more militarized police actions in our cities and towns, specially when the result is the death of innocent people.

If this kind of stuff was happening here and not to “those” people over there, I’m sure most doper’s opinion on what the threshold for “tolerable” collateral damage would change drastically and the fuck quickly.

Hell, why don’t we blow up terrorists here at home?

Let’s say Yusif the terrorists lives next door to you. Why doesn’t the government blow the f up out of the building, killing him, and your wife/son/daughter, etc?

I mean you’d be fine with that, right? Perfectly justified. If anything, this terrorists represents a FAR more imminent danger than some dude wearing rags living in west bubble-fuck 4,000 miles away carrying an outdated, poorly kept fire arm, right?

Even kimballkids?

To be brutally honest, I’d far prefer someone fuck a dead kid than a live one as long as the necrophiliac paedophile didn’t murder the child. They’re no longer living, they don’t have to experience the torment.

Dat’s racist

Exactly the opposite is true. Just about the very first thing the Taliban did upon coming to power in the 90’s was start a genocide against Shia muslims in the country.

There simply is no “pretend they’re not there and they’ll go away” with the Taliban. They do not have the military means to invade and depose the US Gov’t. But they can, and will, export terrorism in any form they can. They do want to form an Islamic Caliphate. They are already in control of areas of Pakistan.

Ironically, in the years to come the US may end up allying with Iran to try and curb Taliban influence in the region.

Islamic terrorism does not need a reason. For ex. 26/11 Mumbai attacks were not because of Kashmir.

I agree 100 percent.

Sanctions against Apartheid South Africa certainly caused many children to die.

Pleasr explain why you think people advocating sanctions against Apartheid South Africa were evil or comparable to Taliban gunmen who shot Malala?

Thanks.
