I Pit (well, MPSIMS) food poisoning

Wow Eve , that sucks. I hope you feel better ASAP.

I’ve been there. The last time was when I was working for a university library. It was “staff appreciation” day. Which meant a box lunch under a tent. A lame box lunch.

It consisted of a sandwich, a tiny condiment cup of fruit salad, and a cookie. The cookie was by far the best part. The sandwich was a piece of dessicated chicken breast, half a leaf of lettuce, and a paper-thin slice of tomato. The vegetarian option was the same sandwich minus the chicken. (I am not kidding, there is no exaggeration or hyperbole in the previous statement.) Oh, and a packet of dijonnaise, the unholy mixture mustard and mayo.

I was poor that week, so I decided “Hey, free lunch. What’s the worst that could happen?” What I didn’t know was that the lunches had sat outside, unrefrigerated, all morning. In July. Ugh. So I got a nasty case of food poisoning out of it. And the food wasn’t even good going down, before I started doing my patented Linda Blair-but-from-both-ends imitation.

So I feel for ya, Eve .

The Ziploc bag was hilarious.

There’s nothing like having a sick stomach, and trying to not puke as you think “I wish I had cleaned the tiolet today and not last week.”
