I predict that Donald Trump is going to win the election for POTUS this year.

No because they don’t use electoral vote maps and the midterm electorate is not the same.

Oh, and the House is gerrymandered to shit, mostly by and in favor of Republicans.

That was always a problem – everyone who has any political views at all knows they’re just plain obvious common sense and tends to associate with those who feel the same way. But nowadays, so many politically interested people all over the spectrum live in an echo-chamber-bubble of microsegmented-media reinforcement that it is bound to be an increasing problem.

Well, for one thing, he’s already put far too much bigotry, sexism and xenophobia on the record to walk it all back before November, and, for another, simple esthetic revulsion.

That aesthetic revulsion is a good, and underreported, point.

I had one woman posting pro-Trump stuff, mostly because he was anti-Muslim, and she married a former Muslim. But she is noted for being Evangelical, and lost a ton of Facebook friends over it. She backtracked and said she was only supporting Trump strategically, and would prefer if Cruz won.

Unfortunately, I called her on her un-Christian behavior one too many times and lost her. She kept saying she wanted that sort of thing, so I kept obliging. She would make post after post saying how bad it was to un-add people you disagreed with.

It’s a shame, too. She was one of the few who made political posts who I left on my wall. She was willing to challenge Evangelical sacred cows, like the Duggars and the Robinsons. And, while she still thought it was sin, she was very pro-tolerance on homosexuality and particularly same sex marriage. Her intolerance was saved for Muslims and, oddly, Oneness Pentecostals–hence being very against that one lady who refused to issue marriage licenses.

(I could look up the county clerk’s name, but I kinda like that I forgot it.)

I am no longer confident that Mr. Trump will win this election.

Since the conventions, his conduct and past information about him and how he conducts himself have been abysmal.

Mrs. Clinton, OTOH, has conducted herself well and shown intelligence, humor and patience.

I am now hopeful (and expect) that the American public overall will not see Mr. Trump as fit for POTUS.

Just thought y’all would like to know.

I’ve been wondering!

And it doesn’t look like he will.

N/m

Since this has been resurrected: No, that isn’t even close, and her actual quote demonstrates exactly the opposite sentiment.

Here.

Well I’ll be dipped. I was right!

And I thought the age of prophets was over!

Have to say, I’m not really inclined to reward you with a cookie for this one :).

Ah, well - I guess we live in interesting times now, as the apocryphal curse warned.

You must be fucking thrilled Trump was elected so you get to gloat. Good job picking one of two available predictions. You truly are a genius.

…someone throw this man in the quarry!

Just read your OP: looks like you nailed it. You also happened to say something I hadn’t heard anyone say until today on Twitter:

“Just yesterday I heard at least half a dozen lifelong union members talking about how they couldn’t wait to vote for Trump.”

Anecdotal: but prescient.

Hats off to the OP.

No, I’m not thrilled; I’m actually horrified, and nervous and somewhat upset.

I think President Trump is going to be disastrous for not only the US but for the world in general.

But yes, I am gratified to know that I did read the electorate right, that my observances about people and about our society were accurate and that I was able to correctly interpret it all.

We are all so happy for you. Here I thought it was going to be a bad night, but then I realized the positive side of all of this - that Snowboarder Bo would get a fleeting moment of happiness when he gloated to all of us about how right he was to miraculously predict that one of the two possible presidential candidates would win the election.

This would be more apropos if Bo actually gloated, though.

Well done, Bo. You did, in fact, call it.

(FTR, before anyone jumps down my throat, I was on Hillary’s side and am devastated that Trump won.)

…you should really pick your targets better. Bo is not gloating. But Bo was right. If you want targets: there are gonna be plenty of “gloating threads” popping up all over the net over the next few days where I’m sure your righteous anger will be served well. But this really isn’t one of them.

Bo’s last word on the subject before Election Day was him patiently explaining that he’s no longer confident that Trump will win this election – adding that he now expects that the American public overall will see the man as unfit for POTUS.

Should I now start a thread saying that Trump will get re-elected? And then follow up with a post explaining that I believe he won’t? And then crow that I was right?
