…and that’s exactly why this idea is being floated as ‘a possibility’–it will get Trump votes.

He wouldn’t resign. As President he won’t care two cents about whether Congress will work with him to pass legislation. He will be in a position to do as he pleases all day long, and incidentally get some petty revenges on people he hates (he will spend a lot of time working out how to stick it to Obama in return for Obama’s humiliation of him at that infamous 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, for example).

And there is always the prospect of “temporary” martial law being declared after a major terrorist attack in the USA. Then Trump gets the fun of working out how to consolidate absolute (nearly) power. His children will be very interested in that, too.

He wouldn’t resign. He’ll do as he pleases and care nothing for rumblings about impeachment. How could he be impeached for failing to get legislation passed? …it won’t happen.

And I’d bet money he tries to fire Mike Pence at some point. I bet he thinks being Vice President is no different than any of the VPs who work for his corporation.

I’d understand the motivation - some of us in Indiana have been wanting to fire Pence since the last election.

Damn straight he’s in it for the money. After four years in the job he’ll have a rolodex of contacts that will pay huge dividends.

“After four years”? If elected, Trump will start robbing the taxpayer within four days of his inauguration. Every decision he makes will revolve around one central question; how can he get paid for it? What, build a wall with Mexico? Guess who owns interest in construction and real estate companies?

Being President is a terrific opportunity to make money. He’d have to lie, break the law and ignore a President’s real duties, none of which he’ll mind doing. IF there was a billion dollars in it for him, Donald Trump would let a nuclear bomb explode in any major American city as long as he wasn’t in it. I am not joking in any way.

Well, when there’s a substantial amount of money to be made, sure he likes THAT kind of power. But when he sees a daily agenda that amounts to attending a civil rights meeting, greeting a Chinese ambassador, then traveling to the Middle East on a peace mission-- no way in hell will he want the job. His name is a name to be sold and marketed, not a name that is here to work for ME.

He wants to make America great again… for himself, not anyone else. He still thinks he’s allowed to do this with a stroke of a pen. President= man in charge of a company.

He will fire whoever makes up an agenda like this. He will arrange his schedule to his liking. He will be the first president to judge a beauty contest. He will open new golf courses and play with other heads of state. He will go into trade negotiations and scream at everyone that America is getting shafted, and blame his negotiators for not getting a good enough deal.

Oh, and if he gets pissed off, he will start a war. He would love it!

I think this is more likely than the OP, though I don’t think either will happen.
