I’ll be in my bunk.
So can you put in the magic words about possibly not being workplace safe or whatever and post the link again?
I wanna see.
I can see breaking the link and a reminder that even that video, despite the lack of nudity, is still NSFW, but complete removal and closing the thread? A bit much, I think.
There was a warning issued too, aas in “Mod Warning” in bold at the top of the mod post and ending in “Don’t do this again.”
If the OP has put in a broken but usable link in an existing thread where it would be of some relevance, fine. But starting a thread with the link? Doesn’t that just invite more links to more borderline material? If not, then what was the point of the thread?
Ah, I see where my error was. Thanks for clarifying (and since this is the pit), fucknozzles.
Try entering “cheerleader boots” in YouTube. It will be the first hit. Yeah, it is some cute girl, but why Little Nemo felt compelled to post it completely escapes me.
Looking back at it, I could’ve just put an NSFW warning in there. But I still don’t think a thread of hot girl YouTube videos is Dope-appropriate and I’m not sure what else the thread would have turned into. I’m not accusing Little Nemo of trolling or deliberately violating any rules, and as I’ve said a couple of times, the video was in a gray area because of the lack of nudity. But I still think it was a bit too much and I didn’t want to wait until someone else went over the line later. We have “Girl X or Girl Y” threads occasionally, but the pictures are safer for work.
Lastly, a warning means “Don’t do this again,” not “I’m sharpening the ban hammer and will be watching everything you do like a hawk for an excuse to toss you.”
Oh, Jesus Christ, just re-open it and stick in your little NSFW warning if you feel you must and let the thread do what it will. The universe will not implode, I promise.
I watched the video and I don’t see any problem with it, since it has no nudity and since it was well described in the OP. Perhaps he should have put “possibly NSFW” or broken the link, and the mod was overzealous in closing it. This place is getting way too uptight and puritanical. The mod should have simply broken the link or added a NSFW warning.
You’ve got to be kidding me, man. It’s a hot girl PUTTING ON HER SHOES. How is that not Dope appropriate when people have posted much “worse” and more questionable things without such a harsh response? I haven’t seen any rationale for closing the thread that makes sense offered yet in this thread. I don’t even see how it’s NSFW. The video is totally tame. Break the link if you have to and put a lame NSFW warning in the OP and leave it alone. The thread closing was ridiculous. Marley23, you overreacted IMO.
Rubystreak, remember that some areas of the country are more conservative that where you are. I’m not saying that the Dopers are, but the member of the Church of the Straight and Narrow Baptists peering over our shoulders may be. A caution is not asking too much.
 Fuck 'em and their excessively delicate sensibilities.
I’m with Ruby.
COMPLETELY harmless video.
Described exactly as it is.
If that is NSFW then you work for the FLDS…or some other cover-up-all-your-women’s-skin organization.
High School Girls dress up like this and jump around for hours on end in front of cheering crowds of people. In fact, I believe they actively LEAD those cheers.
In what way is this even “borderline NSFW”?
No one is forcing anyone to click on links. If you know you can’t look at anything controversial at work, then wait until you get home to look at it. Do we need nannies closing threads because people can’t show some discretion?
A caution inserted into the OP would have worked and I doubt Little Nemo would have argued about that. A closing and then a mod saying it’s “not appropriate for the Dope” and what would it have turned into? Seriously, WTF? That’s excessively paternalistic and doesn’t ring true to me.
Didn’t she suggest a caution?
Personally, I would have closed it too. We ask for some content in the OP - “Hey, get a load of this” posts, even if they’re not NSFW, just aren’t appreciated here.
I would have closed a thread with no link that just said “cheerleaders are hot”, too.
Good job on the reading comprehension, there:
I find it odd that there are no restrictions on language in thread titles (motherfucker, cocksucker, cunt, etc.) but a cheerleader changing shoes is NSFW.
So as I’m getting this, your closure was on the combined grounds of NSFW link plus a lack of comment in the OP plus you didn’t see the likelihood of any interesting or entertaining discussion other than a series of posts containing nothing more than “Loogid this hawt chick” links?
So, kiddies, if you want your thread left open, you know what the Mods are looking for!!
The absolute last thing I want to do is to play junior mod secondguessing the actual mods, but as I’ve seen things at work around here, this historically really calls for a Mod Note explaining what the issue is, not a Warning, which is “you transgressed the rules, perhaps in a minor way but still a clear transgression. Please refrain from it in future.” Just as a thought…
