I Quit Smoking Last Night...And Today SUCKS!

FoieGrasIsEvil, I think the people in here recommending e-cigs have the best of intentions, but are doing you a grave disservice. I know that no studies have been done about how harmful e-cigs are vs ‘regular’ smokes, but while I’ve no doubt they’re at least somewhat safer, the safest thing is to not use tobacco at all!

Hang in there!!

Maybe – I’ve never used them, but they do look neat when other people use them.

An alternative could be the Nicotrol inhaler – I used it during another attempt years ago to quit. No tobacco, just nicotine. Looks kind of dumb, but you can treat it as a subtle inhaler and use it in your hand sort of like a one-handed chillum position or something.

There is no tobacco in an e-cigarette. And if you’ve never been addicted to nicotine, you have no idea how bad withdrawal can be by going cold turkey.

I do, I did. Glad I have that monkey off my back for good, e-monkey or otherwise.

Hang in the FGIE!

Actually, I was aware there is no tobacco in an e-cig, and I mis-spoke by implying that there was; I should have said nicotine. And no, I’ve never been addicted to nicotine, so I really don’t know. But I do know that the OP has been cigarette-free for days now, and the worst of his cravings should be starting to subside. He’s not nicotine-free yet (from the sound of it) because he’s still using the lozenges. IMHO, using the lozenges to quell the cravings is better than using an e-cig because the lozenge removes another element of the habit of smoking.

Now, if you’re a smoker and you intend to keep ingesting nicotine, I definitely think you’re better off with e-cigarettes, and I also believe (or maybe just hope) that e-cigs are a big part of the answer to the ‘war’ that seems to exist between many non-smokers and many smokers. They certainly remove the ability for a non-smoker to say “Hey, I have the right not to breathe your second-hand smoke!” (And I believe they do have that right), and they would greatly cut down on the littering some smokers seem oblivious to when they flick their cigarette butts all over the place. I’m sure there are some non-smokers who are just plain anti-smoking and nothing short of totally illegalizing it is going to make them happy. Me? I’d be thrilled to see all current smokers switch to e-cigarettes!
