I Really Used to Like ATMB

I am so glad you agree with me.

That would be awesome. Not necessarily good for fighting ignorance, advancing reason or even board longevity. But awesome nonetheless.
“No, it’s not. You are banned.”

That would at least be highly entertaining.

But that is exactly what is happening as I just pointed out. Sometimes they do this, sometimes not. It’s the inconsistency that is baffling. If they want a nice tidy “just the facts ma’am” type forum, great, if they want another version of the Pit, well, maybe not so great. But at least pick one.

About This Message Board? More like Wallowing In Manufactured Drama.

So your argument for why the SDMB should consistently lock threads is because currently their reasons for locking some threads is “baffling” to you?

You want them to lock all threads because you can’t figure out why they only lock some threads?

Seriously?

Note: I’m very pro-thread, I am firmly opposed to almost all thread abortions.

If the rules on thread locking, in any forum, are inconsistent, then that’s an issue any of us would have.

In case you haven’t notice, ATMB regularly has threads where people ask why certain threads are closed. I am hardly the only person who wonders about such matters.

In fact, some threads get closed/re-opened due to uncertainty by the mods themselves about whether they should be open or not.

I am just pointing out an inconsistency. I lean towards keeping ATMB a bit tidier in blocking long threads, while some threads are shut down way too soon (after just a couple posts).

Just to clarify things: I am not suggesting that all threads be locked right away. Nor am I suggesting that all threads be kept open forever.

Some tidiness, without being completely anal, is recommended for this particular forum.

(Interesting that people focus on the keep threads open too long part of my post and ignore the part about mods clamping down hard. Very interesting.)

I disagree with you.
