Because it sounds so cool. Unfortunately, realistic heads prevail, and while I don’t even think I’d have a one in a million shot at it, even if I did, it wouldn’t be a very logical career move for me.

During the brief time I lived in the LA area, I happened to meet one of the people who wrote the answer/question pairs for Jeopardy!. He was from Nebraska, and noted that a couple of the other (I think he said there were five) writers were too. Anyway, I doubt he was pulling down beaucoup bucks, from his description of the job requirements and based on the observations of a friend of mine who’s also in the game show business. I doubt, FWIW, that the Clue Crew makes a whole lot more…
…but they do likely make more than the writers. That’s Hollywood, baby.
