I remember reading about scaphism being practiced among the Assyrians. But I can’t find any reference now to them having practiced it at all. All websites I’ve checked say it was the Persians and later Emperor Tiberius who practiced it. Perhaps the author I read had it wrong, but i distinctly remember reading about the Assyrians and their torture methods.
