On July 4, 2008 in the heart of the capital of Iraq I stood before General Petraeus and renewed my oath to my country, its people, and its constitution.
Ok, I’ll see what I can do. Swamped with work that needs to be done before I leave for Seattle this week, but I’ll make a sincere effort. I thought you were almost done, sorry for dropping the ball.
The amount of additional time I added was negligible. (Barely over 12 months)
I only did it for the symbolism behind the act itself… 4th of July, General Petraeus, and all that. This is why I consider it more of a vow renewal than a reenlistment. I added barely over a year to my current contract, I received no bonus, no options, no incentives… just the ability to stand before a prominant General Officer on the Nation’s Birthday and the 35th year of an all volunteer army, raise my hand, and reaffirm my oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States.
