It was on the upper west side – my favorite area of Manhattan, and had the extraordinarily cheap monthly rent (for upper west side Manhattan) of $1100. The place was in a gorgeous pre-war building, doormen and a manual elevator, and it was enourmous. Large living room, two bedrooms, an office and a gigantic kitchen. A wraparound terrace and a dining room with a view of the Park.
I walked around in awe as the real-estate lady yammered away about all the luxurious features. The place, by the way, was already fully furnished.
You may be thinking, at this point, “all that, in Manhattan, for $1100? Only in your dreams, pal.”
And you would be right, since that’s when I woke up from my nap.
It was a good dream.
