This past Saturday my fiance Tom and I were in an Eckerd’s Drug Store in west Houston. (Westheimer Parkway and Fry Rd.) Tom had to pee, and entered the restroom. A manager (he thinks) was in there, using the toilet. Tom got through first and was washing his hands, when the manager flushed the toilet, came out of the stall, and left without washing his hands!!!
He told me about it, then proceeded to say loudly to anyone who could hear, and pointedly at the pharmacist nearby, how the manager should have washed his hands after taking a shit. (It was funny as hell, actually.)
Yesterday I sent an email to Eckerd.com, outlining the problem. I actually received a response today! The guy was very nice, and extremely apologetic, and told me “the matter would be looked into.” He seemed genuinely appalled that an employee would do such a thing in a *drugstore[/] of all places.
I sent a complaint letter to Panera yesterday. I am not sure which story is worse:
I am standing waiting for my lunch order yesterday and watching the employees prepare the food and deliver it. (for those that have never visited a Panera, you place your order and they call your name and order number for you to pick it up at the other end of the counter.) A woman was working on the counter against the wall so her back was to us most of the time. At one point, she turned around to look at the computer screen (faced us) for her next order. She reached down and picked up the front hem of her apron, and wiped her nose with it (as one would with a tissue). Finished, she let the apron hem fall back into place. She then went right back to work wearing the same gloves and now-soiled apron.
Sorry to hijack the thread - but I couldn’t help myself.
Reminds me of the McDonald’s that has been getting our orders wrong lately. After finding a single Quarter Pounder in a Double Quarter Pounder box, I asked my SO if she had any idea what was going on with them. Turns out all the wrong orders had come from the same cashier - the one that my SO had reported to that location’s manager for continuing to handle food after repeatedly touching her hair! I suggested going to a different cashier from now on.
I doubt reporting them to McDonald’s HQ would do any good because a friend had done so before, regarding that location’s non-functional ice cream machine. What did HQ do? Sent coupons for free ice cream! Last I heard, the machine was still broken.
Secret Squirrel - you reminded me of another incident. So I’ll hijack my own thread…
Last summer we went to an Astro’s game at Minute Maid Park. It was $1 hot dog night, and they were making and selling hotdogs left and right. We waited in line for a while, and then observed a guy, while wearing gloves, take the little foil wrappers, blow into them, and put a hot dog inside!!!
Blew us away…we went to another hot dog station, hoping they didn’t teach them that handy little trick.
Not a good idea to eat hotdogs when they’re having specials anyways; I know where I worked a couple years ago (minor league park). They made them fast, quick, and didn’t really care what happened to them. But at least they washed their hands (I think, I don’t observe my coworkers as they go about their washroomly duties)
