Three days ago I was idling at an intersection when I heard a scrabbling from my hood. I couldn’t figure out what it could be until I turned off my air conditioner, and it stopped. When I started it back up, there was a rapid thwapthwapthwap. I tried a lot of different things to try to figure out what was happening; eventually when I turned the AC all the way up, the AC died entirely.
Two days ago, a foul smell, like a fish shop, permeated my car.
One day ago, the smell was intolerable, and I took the car into the shop. They found rat hair in the vents, replaced the dead AC motor, and sprayed the whole thing with disinfectant and deodorants, but they were not able to get up into the works to remove whatever rat remains remain.
The car smells better. A little. It’s the heat of July, and if there’s half a rat up in there, or even just a little rat paw or whatever, it’s not gonna get much better.
So I turn to the wisdom of the Dope. Beyond the inevitable hilariously wrong suggestions I know I’ll get, does anyone have a brilliant and feasible way to remove the stench of dead rat from a car?
