As of last Friday I didn’t know that. I confirmed it on Saturday and went for my first ob-gyn appointment today. My first thought when I saw a positive EPT was “Oh god, what have we done!”. Right now I am split between numbness and incredulity.
Now you take your doc’s advice, decide if you want to have a doula, eat more fruits and veggies, take your vitamins, exercise, get lots of physical affection, stock up on baby gear and baby books and baby clothes, tell your family and make a list of names. I probably forgot something in there. Something about picking a preschool and signing up for birthing classes.
Heartfelt congrats and best wishes for a healthy, happy pregnancy that ends in a healthy, happy baby.
We’ve decided not to tell our families for a while. So far only one of my best friends and the doctor knows. Ours will be the first child born in our family for a while and my mom’s first grandkid. I don’t want her to smother me in attention.
Well, now the dopers also know, I expect you all to be discreet and not to call my mom and tell her.
Warning: posting on the SDMB may result in: headaches, rampant liberalism, spontaneous growth of a third nipple, voting, strange objects entering and exiting your anal orifice, donating blood, and pregnancy. Use with caution.
Seriously though, CONGRATULATIONS! I’m so happy for you and Mr. Mighty_Guy.
Ginger, I am right there with you. Next Thursday I go for a scheduled C/S. Good luck to you and here’s hoping you go into labor soon.
Mighty_Girl - go ahead and prepare yourself a list of smarty-pants answers to deeply personal questions.
My one piece of advice - I bought a pack of diapers and wipes every time I went to the grocery store so I have a stockpile ready now - you can swap out sizes if you end up with too many of one kind.
