I Suspect I Have Alzheimers

Thank you.

I decided from the outset to make this a “journey” into the unknown (God! The brain! We “know” so little) rather than something to be … “dreaded”, so I kinda consider myself a “blank page”, as it were.

Thanks

Q

Are you recovered from the lumbar puncture?

Here’s hoping that they find out you just have syphillis. Wait, maybe that came out wrong.

Quasi, it’s small comfort, but you’re in my thoughts. You always have such great things to say, so I wanted to say something back (for once - I lurk more than I post). I’m glad you have a support force along with us here at everyone’s support board.

Best wishes and high regards.

Dear** Susan **and Snickers

First, yes, the headaches are gone and my spinal column has filled back up. That whole episode left me with a new appreciation and empathy for anyone who comes into my ER suffering with a migraine headache. I have no way of gauging the severity of mine compared to someone else’s, but I do know now how debilitating they can be.

I do so much appreciate the support of my Doper friends, and I appreciate the compliment as well, Snickers. Looking back over some of my postings, it is evident to me that I haven’t always been of the kind of temperament required here (not being a jerk, I mean), but as I told my family when I got the word about the AD, “Don’t give up on me, I’m in here somewhere!”

I couldn’t *have *a more supportive group of friends than y’all and I thank you very much!

Bill

Just a thought: clinical trials

You can track them at Clinical Trials.Gov.

If you are asking you are probably OK.

Went I went to the Dr. his first question was “where is your wife?”

He explaind later about the wife question. If you are having problems remembering things and know it then you know what is going on. The men with problems are brought by their wife, and when the Dr ask the man why are you here there answer, “I do not know she made me come to see you.” And then he ask the wife and the answer is “he can not remember a thing and it is really begining to bug me”.

Sorry, but HUH?

Hi Quasi. I read this article and thought of you. Maybe there’s a point or two in there that you haven’t tried yet that might be helpful.

Still wishing you all the best!

Hey Shayna

Thanks very much for thinking of me! I already take the Omega-3 fish oil, and I ride my bike on our Silver Comet Trail.

I also take curry in capsule form, and Vitamins C & E (I think I get enough A in my multi-vitamin).

Shayna I have never heard about these Phosphatidylserine supplements, but I’m definitely going to check into them.

I was advised not to take the Ginko, because it interferes with one of my other meds, so it’s good that it isn’t recommended.

In short, I’m willing to try whatever it takes and if you or any of my Doper friends come across something (especially y’all in Deutschland where bigger strides are being made) PLEASE send it along to me here?

I think it’s wonderful that y’all care about me and each other and I really appreciate it!

I am reminded of the old joke (Brother Dave Gardner, maybe?) where someone goes to a faith healer as a last resort and asks him for help:

“Have you been washed in the blood of the Lamb, brother?”

“No, but if you got some let’s do it! I done tried everything else!

Holding on to my sense of humor!

Thanks again Shayna and Everyone!

Bill

cerberus, thanks for the links! I had already written an e-mail to one of the clinical trial groups, and they are sending me a questionnaire to fill out.

Hope I don’t get the placebo!

Thanks for thinking of me!

Bill

You’re very welcome, Bill! I’m so glad you were able to find something potentially useful from that article.

Here’s a link from an Alzheimer’s specialist at the Mayo Clinic about Phosphatidylserine supplements: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/phosphatidylserine/AN01592.

We could have a TV show and you could be Cher and I could be Sonny!!!

You like Simon and Garfunkel and Brother Dave too?? Dude. I think I love you.

LMAO at Janis!!!

I know you were just kidding, but my relationship days are over. No way am I gonna saddle someone with this shit.

Thanks, though. You caused the corners of my mouth to rise!

I’m glad I have y’all to talk to. It’s really nice, and I am sorry for being such an ass to everyone, especially TubaDiva.

Yes, I remember. “Long-Term” isn’t the problem - “Short-Term”** is**.

As an update, I got mine and Julian’s (my grand-son) X Box 360 installed today.

(I paid someone to install** it **and the HD TV, because I already knew I couldn’t follow the instructions).

The installer guy and I downloaded GUITAR HERO III for Julian (7 years old) and I bought him a “Julian-Sized” guitar so I can teach him some chords.

I just hope I can hold it together long enough.

Thanks for being here.

Bill

Charleston was once the rage, uh huh. . .

'History has turned a pahe , Uh HUH!"

You know, I have to deal with a spouse with nurological problems, there have been times his symptoms are very Alzheimer’s like. I don’t always handle it with the bset grace, but I do the best I can… It’s not a burden if the person loves you, and if they don’t, f— 'em.
I said it flippantly, but as a friend, I do love you, even though I don’t know you very well, yet. If you ever need me for anything, or wanna talk PM me, I can send you my email or number HUG

The mini skirt’s the current thing, uh huh
::flips hair::

(P.S. I’m cheating and looking up the lyrics. ;))
(P.P.S. All the best to you, too, janis, and mr. janis!)

( I know the next line, but I’ll let Bill fill it in!)

Thank you,** Shayna**. I Appriciate that!

“teenybopper is our newborn king, uh-huh”

Janis, thanks very much for what you wrote and your very kind offer. Sorry you are having to go through this with your husband. I’m single and live by myself, but i wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with anyone until such time as I know I can stop this shit in its tracks.

Right now this (posting here) is helping a whole bunch and I look forweard to tghe weekdays when I am off from work so i can get on the computer.

Shayna, I have to admit I had to look for the next line too!

Thanks

Bill
