I.t. Department, have you tried turning it off and on?

I know I’m a little late to the party on this one, but. I just discovered the BBC series “The I.T. Crew” and I love it, it’s a great representation of life in the trenches of technology, and I love all the background gags and references to the early days of home computers, like the old Commodore PET

I see myself as a kind of fusion of Moss and Roy, the techiness, nerdiness and social awkwardness of Moss (I’m more comfortable around tech than people) and the cynicysim and fashion choices of Roy (I absolutely LOATHE ties, they need to be destroyed utterly, I LIVE in jeans and t-shirts/sweatshirts), but my personality is far closer to Moss…

Jen gets a “meh”, sure she’s pleasing to the eye, but ultimately shallow, everybody else is just filler, still, good series, the only ep I actually hated was the nude calendar episode, I never even finished that ep, utterly skippable

“Hell’s teeth! I’m not aroused! It’s only cars! Goddamn these electric sexpants!”

But yeah, I.T. Crowd is wonderful. Glad you’re enjoying it! Have you seen Better Off Ted? Not quite the same thing, but I think it appeals to a similar mind.

I once saw a bit of an interview with the (producer? creator?) of The IT Crowd, and he was talking about his favorite sitcoms. He thought that Seinfeld was by far the best sitcom ever written, and ever since I heard him say that, I saw the distinct similarity in the way The IT Crowd was written.

I miss it. I wish they had done more episodes! Funny, funny show.

… are you quite sure it’s plugged in?

That’s pretty much what my job was like back in the 90’s when literally 90% of problems could be solved by power-cycling, or failing that, plugging the damn thing in.
