Chalk River checking in. I felt it from the ground floor of the reactor!
People here in Grand Rapids, MI, felt it, but I did not.
I can’t imagine that anyone was terribly injured. 5.5 isn’t really big enough to do much damage, especially in a place with solidly-built buildings.
Is Québec trying to separate again?
I’m in Columbus, Ohio and some people felt it. I guess I was too busy working.
I bet BP gets blamed.
2nd floor office in Burlington - several of us noticed an odd shaking sensation, but didn’t realize it was an earthquake until the web reports started coming in.
I was going to blame it on the G20 security precautions.
Totally missed it. I was walking along Front St ogling all the G20 cops and thought the earthquake was due to the twogiant 'copters about 150 feet overhead.
Awesome!
Crazy. I am also in Columbus, and didn’t feel it at all. And I’m in a high-rise!
Facebook is lighting up with all sorts of friends in Ohio who did and did not feel it.
I felt it. My dog was licking her belly and I thought she was making my desk and chair wobble! Then my brother asked if I felt the earthquake.
My mom felt it, my dad didn’t (same neighborhood as me). She was sitting in a desk chair with wheels, and he was standing up.
I was surprised how far the waves from the quake went. I mean, it really SHOOK my stuff out here!
Is that what you kids are calling it these days?
I missed it. I was out and driving around and didn’t even notice it. ETA: Second time I’ve been through an earthquake and didn’t even notice it.
I felt it here in Charlotte!
No, wait, that may have been the corn dogs I had for lunch.
When I was a student in Kingston, I got woken up one morning by the bed shaking and the sound of the plates rattling downstairs in the kitchen cupboards.
My first thought was, “I didn’t drink enough last night to cause this kind of hangover, so it must be an earthquake!”
Student days…
Yep, I felt it. I’m by the CN Tower in the G20 zone. I felt my chair and feet wobbling/bouncing. There is construction across the street, train tracks right behind us and jumbo helicopters around for the G20. I went to the window to see if there was some sort of ‘event’ due to one of the above, but no-one on the ground appeared to notice.
I’ve been sick, I’m home alone, and it woke me up, then I fell asleep again after it passed…I’d thought it was ME shaking until I turned on the CH news and they were talking about it.
I’m in Montreal and I didn’t feel it :(:(. As for Quebec separating, that might have been the case if it had occured tomorrow (Quebec Dopers will understand :D).
I’m in Buffalo, NY. I was speaking on the phone with my father who was home in Toronto. We were talking away when he said something along the lines of “What’s going on with the shaking?” just as my building starting shaking as well. I said “How did you know my office was shaking right now?” Took us a second to realize what was happening.
I’m in Southern California and I felt it too…wait a minute…oh, that was some other earthquake…nevermind.
