I’m in something of a state of disbelief that this will actually happen, hence the question mark.
My masters program requires that we do a summer internship between our two years of study and I really wanted to do mine abroad and I sent out a bajillion applications…somehow…I got offered this internship in Hyderabad, India, working with a management consultancy NGO.
I’m still hammering out the details (funding, visa, trying to find my proof of yellow fever shot) but I think it might actually happen. (Well, it’d better happen, because I need an internship and this is the only lead I have at the moment.)
I can’t even let myself get excited because it feels so improbable right now that I’m going to be spending ten weeks in India this summer.
It is going to be hot there at this time of the year. Hyderabad especially, will be sultry, both because it is close to the eastern seacoast and the monsoons arrive early in that part.
Be careful with what you eat and where. DO NOT, repeat DO NOT drink water, or any other cold water based beverage other than from a sealed source. Not to mention that even tampered bottled water is available and therefore vendor appraisal is also necessary.
Ten weeks is not a long time and it will be a terrible visit if you were to spend most of the time being sick.
I am from India. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Have a good time!
Makes ya think, desn’t it. Way really does lead on to way.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
