I think it's time to pack it in. It was a good run, but it's over.

100% of all the precincts are reporting? The last one only closed at 3:55am. I don’t believe all of the votes have been count.

We went through this crap of trying to call it too soon and it blew up in everyone’s face. Not this time…y’all need to chill out.
GWB went to bed and said he’d wait until morning.

If you’re trying to catch me in a moment hypocrisy, it didn’t work. Count all the votes in California, if you’d like. If Bush wins, more people wanted him to win. That’s fine. But staying in office without really knowing is what I’m against.

Shit, they called Texas before we even voted.

Tell me why the government can’t control the increase in living costs? Rent, fuel, food, insurance, laundry…oh wait, I’m looking for government to, um, shit. Hey, Lenin help me out here.

They bothered to vote?

It’s now past 6 am Eastern time. Perhaps most of the votes had been counted earlier. Perhaps they were Johnny on the spot and it didn’t take very long to count the last few. We don’t know how they’re doing it.

I’m still reserving judgment, but I’m not there counting the ballots and I don’t know how exactly the numbers are coming down. But when I’m hearing nothing about oodles and oodles of votes left to be counted, and when the numbers are continually pointing to Bush, well, it’s hard to ignore.

But I don’t want to proclaim Bush the winner just yet. Don’t want to jump the gun like in 2000.

Look, you.

I voted. I want my vote to count. I want every vote to count. You think the guy who stood in line until 4 am in Ohio would think it was okay if they just said, “Heck with it; I can’t be bothered to count the rest of them. Let’s declare now.”

I want every single vote checked and counted. Three times if need be. That means absentee ballots and provisional ballots too. And I want the media, the political parties and everyone else to stop saying who won before the votes are all counted. I can wait a little longer if it means it gets done right.

Have a little respect for your vote. It’s all you got.

You’re in rare form tonight, Duff.

(And yes, I know…it’s morning. But, as I heard it put once, "Tonight is still yesterday until the sun comes up and then it’s tomorrow.)

Actually Texas has a pretty good voter turnout usually. At least the rural areas like where I live. hell you gotta…everybody knows everybody and if you don’t they’ll shun ya. Call you a damned communist and all kinds of shit. talk bad about you for years…they don’t much care HOW you vote just as long as you do.

But not near as good a turn out as Wisconsin. They reported 115% voter turnout earlier tonight. yes you heard it right…damn that’s good

What the BBC are reporting is that it currently stands at Bush 154 / Kerry 152. Bush’s lead in Ohio is around 134,000, and there are around 175,000 absentee and provisional ballots to be counted.

So it could go Kerry’s way, but it’s highly doubtful.

**t-keela ** - I don’t understand why you say Bush would need any other states than Ohio to win? He has (and had at the time of your posting) 154 votes, and Ohio would win him a further 20 …

I’m sitting here looking at the votes as they stand right now, including Ohio and Bush has 169 votes.
With three state left to be determined, that’s why.

Not sure if that’s a compliment or a slam. Either way, I’m still gonna agree with most of your posts. :stuck_out_tongue:

154 + 20 = 169? Colour me confused!

Anyway … congratulations to whoever wins, Og Bless America, and it’s been a great show and well worth staying up all night for over on the other side of the pond.

I was making reference to Texas being very pro-Bush. I know you guys vote.

The 115% turnout? Damn, I just knew once I left WI they’d go to the Chicago-style voting!

It’s 6 a.m. here right now and I’m still waiting for a final tally on some states. Who’s been up all night?

Oh, God I’m tired! I’m ready to pit my fatigue!

I’m not sure where you got the 154 from…maybe the New Hampshire votes which they had assumed GWB won but Kerry wound up with during the night. I’ve been up with this all night and right now GWB is sitting on 169 including Ohio.
I’m watching all three networks and here at the boards since early yesterday.

They’re saying Kerry’s gonna probably take Minnesota and Iowa looks likey as well. New Mexico is real close but not in yet.

C-SPAN, Yahoo, Fox and CNN all seem to say it’s 254 to 252 with Bush in the lead.If both candidates were still in the 100s right now, I’d wonder if anybody were going to win. NBC is putting Bush at a 269 to 238 lead, as I’m watchin Katie Couric.

yo Duff I’m still here w/ya been givin Diogenes any more hell…

It’s a compliment.

(You oughta know that. )

I have.

Same here.
