Lurk, you’re forgetting Sonny Bono was pushed into the tree right after Democrat Michael Kennedy did the same stunt a week earlier.
OK, I don’t think he was actually an elected official, but he WAS a Kennedy . . . The tree, by the way, was chopped down three days later by Jack Ruby.
It’s true…an overwhelming majority of Senate and House Republicans voted for Congressman Bono to ski into the tree. I remember that it was nearly unanimous.
I had to do my best in 1/2 hour to explain to my 7yo daughter that the government was not going to fall apart because our governor died last night. I hope her teacher has a fun time answering the rest of her questions.
Rangel just happens to be my rep, and I intend to vote for him.

Just thought I’d chime in and let you know that my company was planning on starting a phone survey today in Missouri on the Senate race. It’s now been postponed indefinitely. I don’t think anyone here knows exactly how to handle it.
