I think my monitor is about to go....

My monitor has been making weird noises/sights.

For a while now, if I look closely, little ‘ringworms’ rise up my monitor. They aren’t all that noticeable, but the picture becomes obscured by a small (1/16 in x 1/2in) fuzzy ‘ringworm.’

Now, it ‘fizzes!’ It will get that kind of whole screen zzzz and flutters for a second. Weird. Is it interference? Or is it time to start searching for a new monitor?

What a coincidence.

My monitor seems to be fine, but I’m really worried about my keyboa

This question might be better posed in GQ.

The “crawlies” you describe are often (not always) caused by RF interference (either external or internal) and getting better video card or even moving monitor (if RF is external) can help to solve this. Might also try changing refresh rate.

“Fizzle” typically means your monitors PS or one of the primary components is about to go. Sorry… but it’s likely to be toast shortly. Start searching.

As a side note incipient “fizzling” monitor failures can sometimes be dangerous re fires etc. because something may be arcing inside. Might be a good idea to replace it before it craps entirely.
