I think "This Kiss" is about Faith Hill Coming Out

Despite being married to Nashvegas singer Tim McGraw, so some other such dweeb, I’ve discovered that Faith Hill is actually a lesbian. For evidence I submit the lyrics to her biggest hit, “This Kiss”.
*
Cinderella said to Snow White
How does love get so off course
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse
Ride me off into the sunset
Baby, I’m forever yours

It’s the way you love me
It’s a feeling like this
It’s centrifugal motion
It’s perpetual bliss
It’s that pivotal moment
It’s (ah)unthinkable
This kiss, this kiss…unsinkable…
This kiss, this kiss
The only people named are Cinderella speaking to Snow White and she see “Ride me off into the sunset, Baby, I’m forever yours”.

It obvious that she (Faith, blond - Cinderella) has fallen in love with k.d. lang (brunette, Snow White) and wants to run away with her.

This despite the fatc that she and Tim McGraw have what is it now, 3 kids.

Uh-huh.

I’ll just file that lesbian thing in the circular file.

And a minor nitpick: In the song, she says “centripetal”, not “centrifugal”. You tend to pick up on those things after a few years of physics. And if you want to get all philosphical about it, centripetal is a better model for True Love, anyway.

Also, according to her episode of VH1’s Behind the Music, she didn’t write the song. Maybe it’s about an unknown songwriter coming out.

Beth Nielsen Chapman wrote the song.

Homebrew Don’t guys complain to their friends about women? I don’t take those last two lines in that stanza as being adressed to the same person <shrugs>

To hell with you for unleashing that imagery on us. It is much more obvious the song is about Faith’s forbidden (but secretly taped and being prepared for distribution) love sessions with Shania.

Didn’t everyone already see the videotape of the Faith/Shania/Britney Spears 3-way? I’d loan you my copy, but I’m afraid I’d never get it back.

Plus, then I’d be forced to admit that said tape is merely a figment of my imagination

In other news, Madonna’s Material Girl is really about big dicks.

[SPOILERS]
The sister in “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” was the killer! [/SPOILERS]

Actually, the lyrics are “RIDING off into the sunset…”
and then she’s describing how she would feel with that White Knight, “Baby, I’m forever yours”

Sheesh…

not that the idea of a Faith Hill lesbian 3-way on tape doesn’t intrigue me, but gee-yah…let’s get it right, folks

Methinks you’re stretching things a bit farther than the (lack of) evidence merits, Homebrew.

Actually, it was Like a Virgin.

And methinks some of you are taking this way too seriously.

I’ve had that dream. Oh, yes. And it was a gooooooooood dream.

Goodness, doesn’t anyone here have a sense of rumor…er, humor?

Homebrew is just carrying on the great gay pasttime of cultural exegesis as seen through the queer prism. You all did know that at one time or other, an awful lot of us gay folk sit down and ‘prove’ to ourselves that everyone from Adam to Zamfir is/was gay, right?

Hell, that was what most of my free time consisted of when I was political chair of the Penn State LGBSA (Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Student Alliance, though Og only knows how many new letters have been added to the abbreviated name).

Guess I’m with John Carter of Mars on this one. Has the songwriter, Beth Nielsen Chapman, ever commented on the song’s hidden meaning (if any)?

Come on it’s Faith Hill singing this, you’re looking for too much from too little of an artist.

Although I’ve always taken the lyrics of the theme song of Charles In Charge to be a charming little ditty about a BDSM relationship…

::rolleyes::

For those who can’t parse my last post NOR jayjay’s excellent explanation:

It’s a freakin’ joke!
Humourless wankers.

Homebrew:

Well…it’s a joke unless it’s being undertaken in earnest by Terminally Serious College Students with a Cause. Humorlessness is one of the prime symptoms of that state.

Which may be why I rarely manage to tolerate contact with TSCSwaC anymore. I spent enough time in and among people in that state to have totally gotten my fill.

chronos:

I’ve studies physics for two years, and while I do think that centripetal wou;d be more appropriate, the song does say ‘centrifugal.’ We cannot expect Faith Hill to be truly proficient in the ways of science.
