She’s part of a group of hot models that claim to be nerds, though I am not 100% convinced of the validity of that, called Team Unicorn FTW. They do a bunch of nerdy themed videos on YouTube.
Really?! As in Seth Mickfar Street or rather, Seth Mickfar Lane?! Cause I’ve never heard it pronounced like that. At most you drop the non-existent ‘d’ sound but you still say Seth mick-far-lin
 Why does it matter? If they claim being geeks/nerds, it should be good enough.
I didn’t realize there was going to be a test when I applied for my geek cred card or I would have studied. Thankfully, they looked at my gut, beard, and comic books and gave me the card along with the secret handshake. The joke’s on them because I also like sports. I’m wearing a Detroit Red Wings T-shirt right now.
Because it means she’s just exploiting the culture without participating in it. She’s using us to further her career, and that tends to bugs people. They’re treating us like we’re stupid.
It has nothing to do with how pretty she is nor whether she likes sports. If those were the issue, it would be easy to fake. It has to do with certain nerdy characteristics that are absent from her appearances. For one, she sounds like she doesn’t quite understand what she’s talking about. If you are nerdy about something, you know it backwards and forwards.
While this is oversimplifying a bit, a good rule of thumb is that, if there is no hint of social awkwardness or other weirdness, the person in question is not a nerd. There’s just not enough time in the day to both learn social skills and faking being “normal” and to wholeheartedly engage in nerdy pursuits. Even the most mainstream nerds have some sort of tell.
Even if the person were inclined to try and fake not being a nerd, hanging around with other nerds would cause some of the associated behaviors to rub off on them. None of these models have that.
Yeah, that’s a big ole pile of bullshit.
I may very well be wrong, I’ve never met any of Team Unicorn, or seen them participate in a nerdy event, so can’t say for sure if my doubts are fairly reasoned, but there’s something suspiciously superficial about how they present themselves.
Compare Clare Grant with the, IMHO, equally hot Chloe Dykstra, who is deep into nerdy pursuits which she wears on her sleeve; dresses in dorky clothes, loves to cosplay, plays loads of video games. Her I believe to be a nerd.
But [Clare](Google Search grant&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch) not so much, somehow it doesn’t seem to fit for her. Though I’m very open to be proven wrong.
Gotta give you credit for the attempt to apply jingoistic pride to all of nerdom, but no. Social awkwardness is not contagious.
Maybe they just don’t think nerdy stuff is nerdy.
Ooh, the “Fake Nerd Girl” meme. Look it up!
Back to the OP: Never thought Seth was gay but I generally don’t spend much time thinking about the sexual orientation of the famous. Unless they’re outspoken homophobes…
As my people say: these should be our problems.
No way, that’s a thing? John Hughes’ noble call to end marginalization of smart guys was soundly defeated when Revenge of the Nerds taught us that a nerd can rape a hot girl into returning affection. But The Big Bang Theory kicked off a 2nd nerd revolution that brought the hot girl together with the genius without alcohol, without lurking her into submission, and they didn’t even have to create her in a lab. And now nerds are pushing back? Really? “Hot girls GTFO, we know you’re not *really *into us…”
You guise… just can’t get out of your own way, can ya?
Exactly. GIVE us that problem.
To apply this line of thought to Seth Green: what does it matter?
His gayness/not gayness doesn’t matter. As Bridget says, unless someone’s outspoken about it, I don’t give it any thought. And I don’t think we should either.
Not trying to thread-shit, here; seriously, folks, think about/get involved in something important.
If Seth Green were hypothetically gay, it’s on him to deal with it in his own time, his own way, privately or publicly. Beyond that, this is base gossip.
I have a feeling it really doesn’t matter, someone just noticed that an average looking un-tall guy landed a very attractive wife and picking apart a mismatched relationship is a meme. Here is a link to a cartoon demonstrating this effect:
http://www. Learn Online DUDE!
(No guarantees on the cite; lots of ads and flashing gizmos. Click at your own risk or search for “cereal guy” or “he will never have a girlfriend”.)
This is one of the more absurd No True Scotsman arguments I’ve read here in months.
Exactly.
[haughty]
Well, everyone I know pronounces it that way.
[/haughty]
Seriously, it’s also the way his sister pronounces it, so I’m going with it.
They’re not into nerds. They’re into their male equivalents. Hot/rich guys with non-prescription glasses who like the Avengers and Cartoon Swim.
‘Nerd’ is kinda the new hip costume. Actual nerds are annoyed by people coming into their clubhouse to screw.
One thing I’ve noticed is that, unlike some “un-tall” celebrities, Green makes no effort to hide the fact that he’s shorter than his wife.
So - cool, good looking nerd girls are into cool, good-looking nerd guys. Seems like the natural order of things.
Back to the topic in the OP… I never thought that Green was gay but I did get it in my head that he was considered a “twink” that gay guys liked to lust after, although everyone knows he is straight.
Anyone else ever hear that? I could be conflating it with something my [straight male] cousin said, that he has a man-crush on Seth Green.
