I Took a Wild Guess about Why Some Psycho Fatally Shot an Eight Year Old Girl...AND I WAS RIGHT!

OTOH brilliant success at a derail…

Based on his last post about the 4 month old arming themselves I think he’s going for some sort of parody of 2nd amendment types? But yeah, it’s a very weird non sequitur in this particular thread.

Getting back to the ostensible subject of this thread, my next-door neighbor’s little girl was a screamer, a drill-concrete shrieker. Fortunately she outgrew it after a year or so, but it was unpleasant to say the least while she was in screech mode.

I may have entertained fantasys of her sudden demise, but would never think of actually trying to carry any of them out.

To me, shrieking is more of a distress signal than a happy sound. Yelling and shrieking are to me different sounds.

I’ve never entertained the idea of murdering the shriekers but I will readily admit I’ve considered turning the hose on them before. Squirt bottle works wonders to interrupt unwanted behavior and the hose lets you teach the lesson from afar.

Been to a One Direction concert?

My distinction is one of pitch. I don’t mind yelling or shouting at all, no matter how high the voice. What I can’t stand is shrieking / squealing / going “eeeeeeee!” / whatever you want to call it. It is a noise that some happy children make when playing. “Squeal” is probably a better word choice, but it makes me think of pigs, so I hesitate to use it of children.

A phys ed teacher of my acquaintance once told me that up to approximately age six, most girls scream whenever they run; she added that boys typically don’t. I was teaching first grade at the time, and can confirm that the teacher’s observation was true in broad outline, at least among the kids in my classes.

Shooting and killing a kid.
Over noise levels.
Good God.

So this is interesting. If true and not just anecdata, that means that either:

  1. This is biological, and the poor things can’t help it, or
  2. This is cultural, and we socialize boys out of it and / or socialize girls into it.

This is her. I have no gallows humor to add, (although kayaker’s was good) because after seeing her picture in the paper it became too local and sad. I read that her mother was shot and killed a few years ago, so it was just her and her dad.

Yeah, this is probably the shittiest thread I’ve ever seen here.

Congrats, @Two_Many_Cats2.

Only in the USA can a mother be shot dead with a gun, and then in a separate incident, a few years later, her 8 year old daughter is also shot dead with a gun. Fuck the USA. We have a perverse love of murder machines in the name of “rights”.

And I’ve been awarded “Popular Link”!!:star_struck:

I don’t typically have any trouble differentiating the two, but my neighbor had a kid whose happy shrieks sounded like I’m in terrible pain/danger shrieks. The first few times I heard her shrieking I went out to check, but learned to ignore it quickly enough. Thankfully her shrieks weren’t omnipresent but they were frequent enough that it became background noise.

And again, congrats for your insights into why someone would murder an annoying screeching child. Maybe you’ll go viral! Glad to have helped!

Hey, it’s 10 :55 pm and they’re still shrieking in the courtyard.

I disagree with girls not shrieking after age 6. My girls are 20 somethings and a 32 yo and the screech can get out of hand still.

Besides my own kids and grandkids a teen girls volleyball game will kill any hearing you have left.

The grandsons fight, call names, chase through the house and fart alot.

None has ever really bothered me to a point I want to hurt some kid. I imagine I did my share when I was young. It’s just how it is.
Kids be noisy.

This is how I feel about women who think every man they see is just itching to rape them.

Actually, most of them aren’t paying any attention to you at all.

Oh, I totally get that, and I’ve lived in similar situations. But how does that justify posting a thread where you commiserate with the motivation?

“Suspiciously specific” would be discussing the type of shotgun load to use.
