I wrecked my new car last night. I’m ok, but I hurt my knee and I’m going to the doc today. Worst accident I’ve ever been in, and I walked away from it. Well, technically I limped away from it, but it could have easily been much worse. I’m so glad I was wearing my seatbelt.
Ouchies on the car, good vibes on the knee, and I’m glad you were wearing the belt, too!
Details, please. (Glad you’re ok!)
Yes, details. Please tell me you weren’t texting.
Sorry to hear about the car. I know it’s a pain to deal with insurance, getting a new one, etc. However, I’m thrilled to hear that only the car was totaled. Glad you’re okay!
Bummer. I hurt my knee (and broke my leg) in an accident. They stuck a big ass needle in my knee and drained all the blood off it. I felt a million percent better afterward. Something to look forward to! Feel better!
driving in moderate to heavy city traffic. i must have taken my eyes off the road for a moment and SUV in front of me stopped. i hit the brakes but too late and going too fast. i drive an economy car - scion xa - i hit an SUV the size of a tank. she had some minor cosmetic damage. i think my car is a total write off. i’ll post pictures later if I can get to the impound yard.
I got a $20 citation for following too close, which I will appeal, and declined an ambulance ride to the ER, which I regret. I’ve got to mop as much of this up as possible today, but all I really want to do is lie down. ugh.
Why were they using an ass-needle for your knee?
You’d think they’d use a knee-needle…
In retrospect, I believe it was a kneedle.
I would love to hear the line of reasoning for this. :dubious:
I am a scofflaw.
Ouch. That stinks. I had a buddy of mine get into a somewhat similar accident. He was going down a hill, looked away for a brief moment, and came up too quickly on the guy in front of him, who had suddenly stopped. It was a car-to-car collision, and nothing was a total-write off, nor was he hurt. Ironically, the car he was driving was a rental which he had to use because someone had rear-ended his car for the same reason. :smack:
I’m hoping the car is a total write-off, though of course that’s wishful thinking. The guy that towed it said that since the airbags didn’t deploy, I’ll probably be driving it again in a month. One of the cops on the scene said it looked bad enough to be a total loss.
Sorry about the accident . Glad your O.K. though.
Hey, I’m glad you’re okay, and not like this guy that didn’t stop: http://tboblogs.com/index.php/news/story/crash-involving-nearly-empty-school-bus-kills-one-near-hillsborough-line-no/?imw=Y
I’m really glad there were no children on this bus. That could have been very traumatic, even if they weren’t hurt.
Oh, Diogones, over here sir, we fould the guy you were looking for.
Just about a year ago (Feb. 11th) I totalled my car as well. Broke my leg, so I’m glad you could walk away from the accident.
Good luck with the insurance company! (that, to be honest, was TRULY painful to deal with)
Can you give me any advice as to how to deal with them (insurance)? My email address is in my profile if you want to take it off line. thanks
This is a bummer, sorry to hear about it. Do you still like your Scion xA? This could easily happen to me. I’ve taken a mental inventory of the places where close calls have occurred and for what reason. The 405 leaving Orange County to LA where there is a significant reduction in the number of lanes is a classic. It’s just strange that traffic will go from 80mph to a dead stop. Now that I think of it, I think the freeway jogs left or drops below an underpass right at this point, thus blocking the view of impending stoppage.
I haven’t been able to find a site that documents the most rear-end prone freeway locations. It seems like this would be quite useful.
Yeah, overall I like(d) it. I think it is (was) a real cool little car. Am I annoyed that it crushed like a beer can in an under-30 mph accident? A little, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, I just didn’t think I’d actually wreck. Who does, right? We’ve also got an Accord - my strategy was one mid-size for a “family car” and then a compact for me to commute in. The Scion quickly became the family favorite. A couple of my buddies ribbed me a little about it, but they can kiss my ass. In my opinion, it’s the best car in that price range.
