Razorette and I spent a long weekend in Steamboat Springs, Colo., this past weekend, attending the wedding of a good friend and generally playing tourist. The highlight of the weekend (besides doing tequila shots and smoking cigars in a freshly-mown meadow in the shadow of Catamount) was floating down the Yampa River on a big yellow inner tube. There were five of us altogether, and we all linked arms and floated, talked, joked and splashed together. The water wasn’t too cold, the day wasn’t too hot – it was absolutely perfect. If you ever find yourself in Steamboat Springs on a summer afternoon with nothing to do, I highly recommend it.
Does anybody else think the Thread Title seems vaguely…obscence?
Um … I suppose I could have titled it, “I went inner-tubing on a wide, shallow river in western Colorado,” but the Teeming Millions would have yawned and said to themselves, “Yeah, and I went walking on a street in my town.” I had hoped to go rafting, but it’s late summer and there isn’t enough water in the Yampa to float a raft. Frankly, my butt hit more rocks than a convict doing hard time, the river is so shallow right now.
Hope I didn’t offend anybody.
Ummm…that was a joke, Sun.
Yep. My response tried to be funny, really it did, or at least wry. It failed.
By the way, when I read you quote, I kinda’ hear Foghorn Leghorn. “It was a joke, son! Ah say, ah say, a joke, son!”
Pretty cool.
For some reason I misunderstood the thread title and thought you were bragging about tubing the Hassayampa. At this time of year, that would be quite a feat.
