For those dopers used to different units of measurement this totals around 103 kilometers or 60,523 smoots.
I shoot for fifty miles a week but I’m happy if I make it in the upper thirties. This week I had the perfect combination of free time and great weather (sunny and cool) to rack up a good total. My dog seemed to enjoy the extra time outside too.
It takes me between three and four hours, depending on the route I pick. Without the dog I can go a little faster but he makes the trips a lot more fun. Southwest Portland is great for walkers, there are trails all over this part of town. Some are short, just connecting dead end roads or cul-de-sacs, and others run for miles through the parks and green spaces. I’ll walk up to Council Crest (the highest hill on my side of town) to enjoy the view or down to the Willamette River. I’ve been doing this for a few years now so I’ve got my favorite routes that let me maximize my distance while avoiding the busy streets and the dangerous ones.
