As for a TRF Dopefest (Ye Olde Dopefest? DopeRenFest?), I’m all for that. I camp there several times each year, and it’d be great to get a big group together…
Plus, there are a few dopechicks I’d just LOVE to see in garb… and you know who you are…

Yeah, yeah, sporrans aren’t period…but they’re damned useful, and easier to get ahold of than the way oversized belt pouch that was period and developed into the sporran that we know and love and keep our car keys in…
Oh yeah, I have a big black leather Sporan that has a big pentacle on it. It holds all the most important things to have when I am at Faire. Condoms, flask, [sub]jiznoint[/sub], smokes, money, ID, cell phone and keys. It’s heavy, but it works for me.

I just made like a simple little “accessory” belt that I put on before my Kilt. Yeah it’s not period, but can’t be seen, and holds my cell phone, smokes, keys and wallet pretty nice and secure.
Plus Great kilts are GREAT for holding things. I can’t count the number of times i’ve had a sixpack or two stashed away in the folds for a quick refreshment!
If you want to carry stuff, you could weare a leine with the long, droopy sleeves and carry stuff in the droopy parts. My wife does that.
I saw some chinchilla furs for sale at an event once and wanted to buy one so I could make the teeniest sporran in all the land…
The current “liene” shirts they sell patterns for at renfests were invented in California in the 1970’s by rennies. These look cool, but they’re less “period” than a sporran…
Rent and watch “Rob Roy” for good ideas about shirts, period pouches (proto-sporrans!) and etc. I do tend to carry stuff in the folds of the plaid, but you have to be careful not to sit on breakables you might be transporting!
