You know, I love Australia. I wouldn’t trade it to live anywhere else in the world, but …
I don’t the fact that the Aussie dollar is so low compared to the US Dollar. $1.00 AUD will only buy around $0.60USD so whenever I seek to buy something that isn’t handled here in Oz, I not only have to deal with the bad exchange rate, I also get gouged on the shipping costs.
For months I have wanted a Scorchio. He’s a little red dragon from neopets.com.
The problem I have is that he costs around $12.99USD (which makes it around $20.00AUD) and then for shipping please add $10.00USD (or around $17.00AUD) making a total of around $37.00AUD for a little stuffed guy. That’s a tad outrageous especially as he’s only around 6 or so inches high.
Now if I lived in the USA I could just trot our to a shop and buy one, no shipping, no bad exchange rate, no hassle, but no, I have to live in a country that’s about as far away from a Scorchio as I can get and I’m sad.
I did try and buy two Starry Scorchio’s through eBay, but they never arrived and now I’m out $110AUD, so not only am I sad, but I’m also poor.
This is not a rant (although it could have easily been one). I’m just sad that I can’t get a Scorchio.
I probably can’t get more mundane and pointless that that.
Oh, I’ve seen those around here. They are about $10.00 US. Very cute, though I do think that the Harris is much cuter. But considering the prevalence of Koalas in AU versus the prevalence of cute red dragons, I can see where you’re coming from.
I feel like such a jerk, I saw two starry Scorchios last night at the mall (and didn’t buy them 'cos I am cheap.) I am holding out for one of my actual virtual pets to appear in stuffed form. The employees at Limited Too sure look at me weird when I go in there just to look at Neocrack…
