I just emptied my piggy-bank out (literally) and found that I have enough to buy an eDGe, which I’d kind of had a hard-on for since I discovered it. Thing is, all of the professional reviews are a little mixed. Can anyone give me an opinion? I already own a Kindle, but for whatever reason the eDGe appeals to me.
I still have my Kindle 1 that I bought almost two years ago, and love it. Had a Sony Reader before that, and originally, the old Rocket eBook, so go way back in this medium.
The eDGe does look neat, but scrolling through their bookstore, I see almost all are more expensive than Amazon’s best sellers at $9.99, with many less expensive. I could not find how many books they have available, but I’ll bet far fewer than Amazon has.
Anyhow, nice toy, but like the iPad, I have no compelling reason to try it. Heck,i still have not upgraded to the K2 or DX, nor have any reason to.
Be interested to see how this does, however.
My other options are to get my friends in the states to get me an ALEX or a Nook and mail it up here. Lots of their functionality remains intact in Canada, even if the hardware itself isn’t available! I’m not going to buy till June, but I also don’t want to fantasize about a piece of junk!
