Which in turn is a fictionalized account of the abolutely true, and very well documented (for an incident of Medival peasent life that is) court case. Fascinating story.
Speaking of Medival, Robin and Marian more or less qualifies, and is a wonderful movie.

Well, if you’ll accept TV shows, try Alias. The whole plot with Person X being thought dead, but returning (and possibly not really being Person X) was a huge thing in Season 4 and in previous seasons, it was one of the more wider mysteries that was taken throughout the seasons rather than the episodic mystery/adventure.
