I can't find the author of this short story anywhere!

I read a short story (about 4 pgs long) in the late 80s-early 90s about a guy that meets this amazing woman and has the perfect evening. The perfect dinner, with the perfect wine, and a perfect night where the woman is, of course, amazing in bed.
The next day, he muses to the manservant that there must be something wrong somewhere because it’s all too good.
The mansservant explains that he is the Devil and explains that she traded her soul to him for three wishes. He manages to outwit her on the first two , but her final wish is that the Devil love her unconditionally which undoes the first two wishes.

I thought Clive Barker or E.A. Poe wrote it ( I was heavy into horror then)but I can’t find a reference to it anywhere.
If any of you incredibly Smart, Witty, Beautiful people can at least give me a clue as to who might have written it I will name a random object in the house in your honour and suitably revere it!

Reported for forum change (and you’re probably more likely to get an answer in Cafe Society).

Over to CS.

I’ve read that. Kinda bland and the character developement was kind of shaky but over all the premise was interesting.

Try Anthony Boucher’s “Nellthu”.

Thanks. I thought it was a mundane question, ergo…

Pinkfreud FTW! A random object will be Named thus!

Thank YOU!
