I am not sure how different the laws and administration methods are between Canada and the US and even within provinces within one country.
I live in Ontario, Canada.
I know people who are defrauding the immigration system of the country. I am myself an immigrant and have obtained my citizenship by following the proper rules of completing my required period of residency in the country.
There are some I know who are getting their citizenship by fraudulent means. I am not sure how they are doing it or what exact methods are used, but they do under the guidance of “consultants” who have set up shop and call themselves some form of immigration services/consultants.
I know of at least one case where the individual involved came to US from Pakistan on an H1. Although he tried to get his greencard, the process was taking longer and he had reached the end of his H1 stay period. Expecting this to happen, he had applied for Permanent Residency for Canada.
As things developed, he got his permanent residence status just before the expiry of his H1B in the US. The individual and his family made their landing in Canada and lived here for not more than a year before they got a fresh H1 and moved back to the US.
While the family was here in Canada, they applied for Canadian citizenship. I am not sure how they got to show their status as a resident for three years, but from what I have learnt, the “consultant” that they had hired did whatever needed to be done and charged them a fee and they got their citizenship card without having lived on Canadian soil for more than a year.
I am not sure, but I have been told that there are people who generate fake T4 slips with fake addresses etc. I cannot imagine how they can scam the whole system though!! I mean this is not some third world country where bribes can get things done.
Not only that, they maintain their Canadian address and continue to get child benefits etc although they are not resident here at all.
I am sure there are many more who are defrauding the system and the government, and it hurts me to see my tax dollars being paid as child benefit to his children when he earns more than me in US.
Where do I go and how do I blow the whistle on this guy? I want to keep myself anonymous for obvious reasons.
