I want to buy a new grill

I’m not a huge griller, but my living situation recently changed and I’d like to do more of it. I currently have a very small Weber. It’s a little too small for anything but hotdogs and burgers really. I’ve cooked fish and it can do a steak or two but I want to grill veggies, etc at the same time.

I recently saw an article in a men’s magazine that recomended a Hot Spot. It looks well made but it appears to have no cover. Is that a bad thing?

Does anyone have a suggestion of a grill that they like?

Thanks in advance.

Grill? Is that anything like a barbecue?

Yes, except what Canadians call a barbecue is really a grill. Most Canadians grill rather than barbecue.

Get a Weber one touch gold and spend the rest of the money on meat.
Or if you really want to step up and the wallet can handle it, go for an Big Green Egg.

No. I definitely barbecue.

Get a Weber. You won’t be sorry.

Since your Weber is too small for what you’d like to do, the solution is simple: get a bigger Weber. I have two sizes of Webers and I find it handy to be able to choose one or the other depending on what, and how much of it, I’m cooking.

Anybody think there is any advantage to a Santa Maria style BBQ Grill? It’s an adjustable hand crank suspended grill-- The grilling seems to be done over a wood charcoal fire, and you control the BBQ by raising and lowering the grill rack. I’ve never had the traditional tri tip roast or anthing BBQ’ed over one of these.

Anybody sampled any Santa Maria BBQ? The food that I have seen grilled in this style on TV looks like a superior grill, with a much greater degree of control.

We have a big Weber and love it. We strongly prefer the hassle and inconvenience of charcoal to using propane or something. Used to have a little Weber and upgraded to the one we have now.

Oh and the firestarting chimney thingy is worth every penny.
