Quicken Loans called me this evening. Long conversation about how they have a partnership with my current mortgage company and they can waive a $500 application fee, and do all the paperwork via phone and email, blah, blah. I’m sure we can get a much lower APR, and I’ve made an appointment for this guy to call on Monday to talk to me and my husband and explain everything. I just googled the rep’s name – nothing suspicious there, but googling Quicken, there are a lot of complaints; I didn’t see one positive comment about this company. If you’ve had experience with them, I’d like to hear about it. Thanks.
Quicken loans is one of the better mortgage companies out there these days. They are completely legit and have a streamlined business model that helps you as well as them. I am not affiliated with them in any way but I did try to refinance my already low rate from another company with them a few months ago. The spent a couple of days trying to come up with something to save me a significant amount of money and did come up with alternatives but then advised me that it probably wouldn’t be worth going through overall because it wasn’t a big enough savings.
They are a large company and fairly aggressive but very professional in my experience. The only reason you are seeing so many complaints is just the laws of large numbers and human nature. People generally don’t write anything when they are happy with their mortgage company.
They are one of the big players in the industry after the housing crisis and try to play by the rules while making sure both of you get the best deal possible.
I got my house refinanced through Quicken recently. Managed to lower the monthly mortgage payment by $100.
Far as I can tell they’re perfectly legit. Pushy as hell, but legit. They’re taking advantage of the free handouts from the socialist president to help folks refinance at more affordable rates and in doing so make a boatload of money for themselves.
My only experience with Quicken Loans is riding a parking shuttlebus loaded with reps every night after work, and listening to them talk amongst themselves about their jobs and their feelings about it. Nearly every single one is young, smart and professional…no downtrodden, pressured, call-center drones. And they seem to enjoy their work and show real concern for their clients. Never once have I heard any bragging about browbeating anyone into anything, or any talk that would make them seem skeevy. I know these impressions don’t help much, but them do seem to like their company.
All you’re comments helped to ease my mind. They have been persistent, but the guy I talked to was very personable, patient, and knowledgeable. The one factor that made me uneasy was not doing this in person with a local office. He said most of the process was done by phone or online. I like to see the person with whom I’m doing business. Thanks muchly.
Just closed on my REFI (hurray for $500 reduction!) with them on two days ago, and while there was a hitch in the amount I had to bring to the closing, it was due to timing of my property taxes being due, not something sinister on their part. They even came to my place of work to close.
In my case, they were only really pushy in the sense of rushing me to get them the necessary documentation as quickly as possible. Being somewhat of a procrastinator, I was thankful for that, and it enabled me to close about 24 days after my first contact with them.
