Anyone got an interesting pattern? The ones I see in stores look like they’re just extra long scarves, joined at the shorter ends. I was going to just pick out a favorite knitting pattern, but I thought I’d check to see if anyone knows of a particularly interesting pattern or technique.
I’ve never done cable, though I think I could do it. I’m not committed to doing this project in cable, though. I have a lot of teal blue yarn (acrylic, I’m seriously allergic to wool), and it’s a nice solid color.
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by an infinity scarf but it sounds like you need a pattern for a moebius cowl or scarf. You should be able to find patterns via google but here are a couple I found the ravelry website. Here’s one example, here’s another. (Caveat - a meobius is on my list of “to knit one day” so I haven’t actually knitted one yet.)
Cables are easy to do, sooooo easy you’d wonder why you haven’t done them before. The thing is though that they usually require a stocking/stockinette background to stand out properly which means that you have a right side and a wrong side to the work which may not be what you want on a scarf. To do reversible cables I think you need to be working in 1x1 rib (I’m doing a long scarf like this at the moment) which does take time.
Let me know how you get on.
I found an interesting article about them here.
