I see that you are unfamiliar with Atlanta league tennis (ALTA). At least at the time of this incident there were lots of actual fights over tennis matches.
What if he had just beaten me up. Or smashed up my car a bit?
Where is this crap coming from?
How about a fist pump? Could that trigger someone?
I believe that DavidNRockies wants to live in Mayfield and I say “Golly Gee Whillikers, that’s a fine idea!” In the meantime, in the real world, flipping someone off warrants zero blame when the flippee starts shooting. Zero. I’m sitting in my chair right now flipping off both the shooter and their partial defenders in this thread. Good hunting!
“If only you hadn’t worn that mini-skirt and bright-red lipstick, you might not have been raped.” :gag:
Maybe it’s as relatively simple as trying to better understand the world we actually live in, and trying to figure out how we want to behave, given those realities.
So that we make it home. So that we are not “dead right.”
I’d put the same question to you, though: are you going to raise your kids to flip off every single driver that they encounter … simply because … if one of them happens to be deranged and kills your child as a result … it won’t be your child’s fault ?
If you want to (basically) characterize anybody having a thoughtful discussion about this as victim blamers and rape-enablers, well, I guess I can take it to absurd extremes, too.
People who want to have thoughtful discussions about flipping people off in a thread about someone murdered by a lunatic are victim blamers and rape-enablers.
I’ve been here for around 13 years, and I’m pretty sure that any flavor of victim blaming has had been treated with pretty widespread derision for most of that time.
Ah… Got it. I used to watch that show but I don’t remember their town being emphasized that much, unlike The Andy Griffith Show where the town is practically the real mean character.
I’ll come back with a rigorous proof based on axiomatic logic. Because “vicitim blaming” is totally a concept that lends itself to such an approach. Please hold your breath while you wait.
