I want to play HL 1 but no dice???

I would like to revisit Half Life 1 which I’ve bought and installed a long time ago but since then I’ve bought and installed HL2. When I try to play HL1 it asks me for the CD key. I’ve long since lost the packaging for HL1. Am I totally screwed here?

I’ve visited the steampowered forum and it looks like I have to write to sierra to get a new key?!?!?

I don’t get it. Just because I’ve installed the sequel to a game it prohibits me from playing the first version? Am I missing something???

I’m afraid you’re going to have to deal with Sierra.
