I want to sell posters online

I’ve recently have got it in my head that I want to sell posters of some abstract Photoshop creations I’ve made.

What’re my options?

I thought I’d have to build a site from scratch and get a 3rd party shopping cart, etc… Handle the orders, go to Kinkos and print the stuff and mail the posters directly.

That seems like a lot of work! I know there are sites like Cafe Press out there, but don’t know much about they work.

What’re my alternatives?

Thanks and cheers!

You could create a deviantart account if you don’t already have one. They will sell your prints/posters for you and give you a cut. Of course, you better be really really good because you’ve got a lot of competition.

CafePress might be another option.

You beat us all to it! Darn you! Darn you like a torn sock!

Yep, got me too. I was going to recommend a couple from The Pit.

We’ve been selling art online for about 10 years. It is a very tough, tough market right now - we even offer 1-cent prints and have few takers. We currently offer about 12,000 prints, so no matter how good an individual artist is, it is difficult to get attention.

If your imagery is out-of-the-ordinary, try to get some word of mouth through bloggers, FaceBook, anything you can to get people’s attention. I sincerely hope you succeed; artists are the least-well-compensated in the supply chain.

I’m sad to say it took me like five minutes to get it.
