…watch an awful lot of really good TV shows.
West Wing (not quite sure why but I’ve never been a Rob Lowe fan, but this is great stuff).
Boston Legal (it’s either ridiculously good, or just ridiculous. Can’t decide which. Denny Crane)
The Wire (Seasons 1-4 were brilliant. Thought Season 5 was a step back, but still amazingly good)
Life on Mars (prefer the UK version)
Sopranos - I haven’t even started watching this yet, but it’s lined up and on my iPad.
Yes, 80% of TV seems to be trash - but damn, there’s also a lot of good TV out there. So what shows did you guys miss the boat on first time around?
I don’t have cable, so I catch a lot of good stuff on DVD (Mad Men, Six Feet Under, currently watching Damages). Of broadcast TV, the main one I watched on DVD was Gilmore Girls, which I watched all seven seasons of intensively during a period of unemployment.
Well, a lot of good TV shows came out when I was young and not interested in said TV shows, so I’ve had to catch up with The Wire, Firefly, Arrested Development, and all that jazz.
I’ve been working my way through the West Wing as well. I just finished season 5 and I’m expecting the first 3 discs of season 6 today from Netflix.
I almost never catch shows while they’re airing. I’d much rather watch them all in a row than have to wait a week between each episode or, even worse, the better part of a year between seasons.
If you haven’t watched all 20 episodes of Party Down yet, on Nextflix, you haven’t watched all of the good tv yet. That’s the funniest damn show I’ve ever seen.
It’s just a LITTLE bit slow to start up, what with getting to know the Party Down team, but around episode 3 through 5, you will most likely be sucked into it - everyone else that I’ve turned onto the show has been… well, except for one guy who apparently has no sense of humor at all.
