This seems like a post for MPSIMS, but it involves Trump, so I’m posting it here.
Based on what he tweets about, it appears that Trump watches at least a couple hours of television almost every day. Anonymous sources inside the WH indicate he is a connoisseur of morning new shows and cable news in general. Besides those sources, if you follow what he tweets about, it’s obvious he is tweeting about something he just saw on television minutes before.
I just find it amazing that I, a middle aged professional with a career at a private corporation, watch less TV than our commander-in-chief.
What about you? Is this stunning to everyone? Are his supporters okay with this?
Don’t know why this bothers me as much as it does.
I assume you actually have to do your job so it may be cutting into your available time. If you could stop doing your job, and when the complaints come in you could just call them fake news, then you’d probably have plenty of time to watch as much TV as the president does.
EVERYBODY watches less television than he does. Seriously, he either is golfing, watching television, or tweeting. His official duties are mere distractions, he has absolutely no clue as to how he should spend his day. How does Reince Preiebus allow that much free time on his calendar?
I don’t find that all that insanely excessive for an older guy who doesn’t sleep much. A little more than I watch on average, but not massively so. I think you might be shocked what the average TV consumption is. Trump at two hours a day would be wayyyy below the average.
Obviously you need to watch more :).
No. It is about the least objectionable thing I can think of about a generally very objectionable man. Now granted I doubt I’d have that kind of leisure time day in and day out if I were president. But if he spends his downtime watching the tube I’m not gonna judge too harshly. Plenty of other things I can judge him on.
To be clear, I think he watches a LOT more than two hours a day. I just used that number because I think it’s almost challenge proof. I would not be shocked to learn that he was in the same room with a TV, with the volume turned up, all day long. There are multiple reports of Trump conducting meetings with a TV on in the background, and he would shush the people in the meeting when something on TV caught his eye.
At some point after a presidency, are presidential appointment diaries made public?
I’ve never looked into them. I wonder what the appt books of different presidents would look like, whether they are chock-full of meetings and such, or whether they are simply presumed to handle whatever is most important.
It is odd how he completely fits the crazy uncle stereotype who watches Fox News all, rants about Obama, and forwards endless emails with right wing conspiracy theories.
It’s also quite sad. He’s the President of the United States with immediate access to intelligence and information on just about anything on earth. He can summon an expert at 3 AM to discuss a coup in the Central African Republic if he wants to. Instead, he watches an endless diet of cable news.
I’m not that fond of TV but if someone likes it, why should I care ?
And it is his real job, he is a much beloved TV Personality, obviously he has to stay in the game, even when temporarily busy with other stuff. The Ruling Passion and all that.
He’s only going to be president four years, but he’ll be presenting TV for a lifetime.
I am more than sure that all world presidents and democratic rulers have a TV on in the background continuously, just in case. They’re not there for game-shows.
Well, he is Grabby McGrabbenstein, so likely yes. But according to reports, what grabs his attention is (and we all see this coming, right?) … himself. Any clip of himself, or commentary about him, he is drawn to.
And this is what drives me nuts. He has access to a far greater quality level of information. Cable news is a horrible way of gathering facts. The 24 hour news channel’s need to fill time means you’re getting an oh-so-thin slice of information, sandwiched in between layers and layers of hyperbole and opinion.
