Our "part time" POTUS.

This is probably good news. Trump is planning to work another job in his spare time. The less time he sits in the oval office, the better it is for the country.

Conway on Trump ‘Apprentice’ role: He’ll do it in his spare time

Spare time? I thought POTUS was a 24 hour a day job?

Should a sitting president be allowed to work a part time job?

I think there’s plenty of evidence that Trump has never wanted to do the hard work of Presidenting.

I understand he’ll get income from The Apprentice, too, as he’s listed as Executive Producer.

It’s more like a 32 hour a day job.

Imagine the security screening all the contestants will have to go to to be near him, the security for the studio as well. Checking all the staff for weapons, etc. Transporting him back and forth in Secret Service caravans, plus securing the area around the location. Seems to me this is going to be pretty expensive for the taxpayers. Speaking of that, wonder if he’ll pay taxes on the income?

I really think that Trump’s presidential “work” will consist mainly of tweeting asinine things at 3:00 am, going to rallies, and otherwise ensuring that his business get plenty of government contracts. That’s going to be the extent of the "work’ that he’ll put in.

I hate Trump nearly as much as anybody probably and though it does raise issues as far as NBC and conflicts of interest there are concerned, I don’t see what the big deal is w/ him having an EP credit. He’s not actively working on the show but he helped create it and as such should still receive royalties as an EP. Other presidents still receive book royalties while in office and I don’t see this as being too different. NBC has some shit to work out probably but I don’t think Trump should be give much pressure to take his name off the product.

+1
The first wannabe contestant kicked off and gets all hot under the collar at the host is shot by security.
Man, now that’s reality TV … imagine the rating YUUUUGGGGEEEEE

Not sure if “too” is appropriate. He’ll get income but I seriously doubt he’ll do over five minutes of work on it regardless of how much free time he has.

Are you okay with him in partnership with NBC and NBC reporting on his presidency?

I don’t think he’ll do any work to speak of, but for that five minutes and a screen credit, he’ll likely get $100K+.

NBC will be allowed to report ALL of the aspects of his presidency; The terrific things AND the great things.

Aren’t a lot of these producer positions on TV shows more about title and influence than actual work? I thought I recalled that in the case of big name Hollywood directors whore listed as such on TV series (eg CSI and Jerry Bruckheimer).

Autocorrect apparently thinks I use the word “whore” a lot more often than I do.

No, his credit on a silly reality show demeans the office and gives the appearance of a conflict of interest on both NBC and Trump.

Do you concede my point that this is not going to take away time from his day job?

As opposed to all the other things Trump has been saying and doing…

Uuh, good point. I do recall some mention of other silly things he’s done. I haven’t really been following along and posting constantly in our elections forum since the beginning of the primaries.

Maybe I should have included a smiley. I wasn’t arguing; the quoted comment just struck me as funny.

Well, I guess it’s just that while I’m not in love with “normalization” of Trump’s ridiculousness there is indeed a saturation point as far as the people’s attention. Now that it’s serious, i.e. he’s gonna be the goddamn President, we can’t afford to waste breath on his mostly innocuous idiocy.
