I wish X would try Y instead of always Z!

Everyone has come across someone that they think would be good (if not better) at something than what they normally do. For example, when I was a teenager, there was nothing I wanted to more than for Judy Blume to break out of young adult fiction and try the real thing. Fortunately, she wrote Wifey and all my desires were satiated. I’m also sure there were plenty of folks who were happy to get more of their Jennifer Lopez fix when she broke out of music and tried her hand at movies.

So what about you? Who do you wish would give up drama for comedy? Or acting for singing?

For me, I’d like to see Ryan Reynolds give straight acting a shot, rather than always either be funny or deranged. I think he’d do a good job not being so smirky quirky.

Just wondering, have you seen School of Life? Reynolds manages to make what should be a tired cliché watchable, and largely not by being funny.

I wish George R.R. Martin would try writing his actual books instead of always blogging about football.

No, I haven’t seen that. Thanks for the head’s up. I would certainly enjoy seeing his range increased and having the potential to go on to bigger films in the future.

Entirely meaningless to almost everyone on the planet, but I’d like Kikuchi Shota to do a manga version of Alice in Wonderland but while still retaining his Japanocentric sense of beauty and fairy tales. :frowning:

There are many X for whom Z would be ‘being alive’ and Y would be ‘not being alive’.
