He strikes me as incredibly dull (though, handsome) as a leading man, but he was decent in certain small parts (Harold N Kumar, Adventureland, etc.)
I guess women like him, they like dull good-looking guys.

I remember him from* Two Guys and a Girl.* He’s likable.
He’s definitely hot and in about 90% of the roles his character has a certain, cocky attitude that makes him so appealing.
That aside, he does seem to be a one-trick pony. The only movies that do well are the ones where he plays his generic cocky character and sometimes even those movies turn out to be flubs. I thought he was really good as a supporting character but fell rather flat as the standing lead, such as in The Green Lantern. I know he’s had a few serious roles but to be honest I can’t think of any that stand out.
I thought he was pretty good in Definitely, Maybe. It was a more serious role than his other movies, but still light-hearted and funny at times.
He always plays the douche. Sometimes it’s the evil douche, sometimes the douche with a heart of gold. But he is certainly typecast as a smug, arrogant bastard. I’ve tried to like him ("…but he’s so funny"). I have not succeeded yet.
He became an A-List star when (and only because) he married Scarlett Johansson. His star has been fading ever since the divorce.
I remember him from that too, which is why I don’t like him.
He left Alanis Morissette for ScarJo. That is some serious star power he knew to attract.
I haven’t even tried. I just want to smack the frat-boy smirk off his nasty face.
Ryan Reynolds is not an A-List star. The industry has been trying to make him one for some time now, with little success; based on his box office numbers, he’s C-List at best.
He’s a decent actor with good comedic timing. I really liked him in Paper Man, Adventureland, and Smokin’ Aces, though those were all supporting roles. I also thought he did a good job in The Proposal, which was an otherwise mediocre romantic comedy with Sandra Bullock.
Exactly.
I think I first saw him in Van Wilder and found his character annoying instead of funny.
Then for the longest time I confused him with Dane Cook.
Surprisingly, I think he has the potential, its just being played wrongly.
He’s been flogged non-stop as the “It Boy” to no avail. He’s probably a competent actor and a nice person, but he’s bland and unmemorable. Neither striking looking or massively talented. He suffers from generic ‘man face’ - he’s just some guy who was in that thing. Yawn.
Duh, it is because of his huge success in that gigantic blockbuster comic book movie he made. You know the one.
**
Blade 3**
I’m kidding! Blade 3 did not do all that well and was poorly received. Obviously I meant his main comic book movie.
X-men Origins: Wolverine
I’m kidding! His turn as Deadpool was neat, but it didn’t go anywhere. He’ll always be remembered for the huge comic book hit that was:
Green Lantern
Oh, wait.
I have no idea why he is so successful. I’d actually say Blade 3 was the best of the comic book ones he has done. Did I miss any?
You! Pistols at dawn! He was a bad part of a bad movie. I suppose Reynolds can hardly take most of the blame for f-ing up that character (see, he’s the same because he talks a lot and has swords and wears red). Nevertheless, I feel like they read a 2-sentence summary of Deadpool and decided, “you know who would be perfect for this role? Ryan Reynolds! He’s dating my niece. I’ll call her!”
So around the first of the year I was looking for a 2012 calendar, and I found a Green Lantern calendar with pictures from the movie. Being a Green Lantern fan, and having just watched the movie on DVD, I thought, “Hey, cool, I’ll get that one.” Then I looked at the thumbnails of the pictures on the back, and every single one of them was a scene of Ryan Reynolds out of costume, in his Hal Jordan “secret identity”. I thought, well shit, this isn’t a Green Lantern calendar for GL fans, it’s a Ryan Reynolds calendar for the ladies.
He’s hot. I liked him in The Proposal.
I thought he was great in Wolverine. Deadpool is supposed to act like a douche, it was what they did to the character at the end of the movie that screwed everything up.
I liked him in Two Guys and a Girl, and then he did a complete transformation from funny skinny guy to badass muscles guy in Blade III. Not too shabby.
Never saw Green Lantern though. It just looked too cheesy for me.
