I woke up, more's the pity MMP

Just signed in to what promises to be a 90 minute long Go-To Meeting Call!

Yippee!!

Be jealous. Be very jealous…

Had a great veggie pizza for dinner last night, which means breakfast pizza this morning. Roads were clear, weather nice(but nippy) and the sun-tinted clouds look like a beautiful oil painting.

blurf

well bless your little pea picking heart! aren’t you just about the brightest ray of sunshine ever?
BLURF!

<grumble> how can some people be so happy on such a ::grumble grumble:: miserable day </grumble>

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t checked in on you all in a while. Glad to see everyone here is green, rotting, falling apart, and shambling around hungering for brains just like me!

I have a bit of a sad update to pass along. A few weeks ago I shared with y’all the story of my family’s pug IQ, and how he was having mobility problems. Well, my mom called me yesterday and told me that she had him put down.

She looked into the mobility wheels for dogs, but while doing so, he gained some of his mobility back. Not all of it, but he did seem to get better. He could walk around and such, and even take short walks outside. But then he took a turn for the worse last Sunday where he collapsed while standing drinking some water. Mom stayed up with him the entire night, he couldn’t move, and could barely turn his head to look at her. He would fall asleep, wake up, try to move, but basically just couldn’t. Took him to the vet in the morning right when they opened, and he got a lot worse, basically gasping for air and looking very frightened. She made the decision then and there to have them put him down.

I was quite sad to hear the news of course, I was really really hoping to see him one last time in December for my annual christmas-time visit, but it wasn’t to be. Mostly I am just really sad for my mom. IQ has been her little companion for 15 years… that’s over half my life (I’m 27)! She is sad of course but she says she’s feeling like she’s just grieving appropriately and told me not to worry about her, that overall she’s happy with life, etc.

So, there’s the update I promised to give everyone. And thank you all so much for your kind words and your advice.

I hope y’all are doing well and have a very happy halloween!

Busy week, run-by hugs and the like. Not dead. I don’t think.

This just happened:

Maintenance T calls from the gas station where he’s filling up the van. The printer is down so they can’t print a receipt. He calls me to inform me of the situation and I talk to the surely very bright girl in the booth. Big Boss asks me to ask her if she can hand write a receipt. Her first response:

“How do I do that?”

I passed the call to Big Boss and went into the server room to laugh hysterically.

Howdy from da cave! Irk was well… you know. CatDude I’d envy you but I also endured a 90 minute Go-To Meetin’ Call.

{{{Dead$2.99}}} so sorry about IQ. Your mom did the right thing by him but still, it’s a really hard, sad, tough decision to make.

Chikin noodle soup and some really good flat bread cracker thingys for dindin tonight. Homemade chikin noodle soup I might add. I also just dumped a small chuck roast in the slow cooker to do it’s thang this evenin’. Tomorrow I shall shred it and use it to make my version of Philly cheesesteaks. Go Me!

Tonight is Evening Prayer over to the church house. Bein’ as it’s close to All Saint’s Day (November 1st is All Saint’s) I am wearin’ my Gary shirt. Gary shirt is a shirt that belonged to my younger brother Gary who died in 2002. I wear it a couple of times a year. I figured what with it bein’ close to ASD (where we remember all those who have gone before us) it’d be appropriate tonight. The big All Saint’s celebration will be Sunday as All Saint’s is customarily celebrated on the Sunday closest to November 1st. I’m thinkin’ it might be a little too cold to wear Gary shirt (short sleeves) then, so Ima wear it tonight.

Well, wasn’t that just rambly!

Ok, gotta go heat up some soup.

Home, burned out again, but a good burned out, mostly. I finished all the detail part drawings and I started to “assemble” all the parts in a 3D model. That’s where I started finding my errors. Considering what I was working from, I’m amazed there weren’t more errors, but I’m fixing them as I go along. As far as I’m concerned, drawings should have all of the necessary dimensions clearly marked - there’s no reason for anyone to have to do math to figure out how long a beam is or where the notches need to be machined. The drawings I’m working from were done by hand in mid-70s, and I swear, whoever drew them put in the absolute minimum number of dimensions and alternate views. Part of my errors are cause by having to search out things that could easily have been made obvious. It is a challenge…

Supper will be ham, cabbage-n-onions, and a N.O.T. with cheese side dish. In fact, as soon as I post this, I need to get things started. I’s hongree!!!

It rained today and it’s chilly. **FCD **finished his new paint room, so he’ll be able to paint without stinking up the house with solvents. Plus he’ll be able to breath fresh air, which is always good.

{{{$2.99}}} - we had to put 2 of our dogs down within a year. Even when you know it’s the right thing to do, it’s rough.

Tomorrow is a double-whammy payday - my pension and my pay for drawing purdy pictures! I’ll be rich for about 10 minutes, till I have to start paying bills. Dammit.

Happy Wednesday!!

Supper was pretty good. I want beef stew for tomorrow - I may toss the meat, broth and onions in the crock pot in the morning, then add veggies when I get home… or ask my sweetie to add veggies after lunch. Then all I’ll need is some crusty bread, and tomorrow’s supper will be good to go! I think that’s a plan.

Gotta remember to close curtains tomorrow - we’re not giving out candy. Doorbells will drive Higgs crazy, and Taz will keep trying to escape. No thanks. We’ll keep the place dark. I thought about just setting a big bowl of candy outside, but what if the first kids just dump it all into their bags? So they’ll just do without candy from me again this year. That’ll be 9 years in a row…

{{$2.99}} Losing a beloved pet is always sad.

I’m kind of sick of the municipal elections. I voted in the advance polls, but I wasn’t sure who to vote for and now I think I may have voted for the wrong person (but am still not sure who the “right” person would be. It was almost a case of trying to pick who I thought would be the least bad. And hearing my boss diss the person I did vote for didn’t help my feelings of uncertainty any.)

On the upside, I’m reading a good book. So that’s cool.

{{{{2.99}}}}

Midget, you should have told you’re boss, “Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos.”

I think it’s time for knittage to ensue. MWAH!!

haha

I need to dredge up a Halloween costume to wear to work tomorrow. They told me to dress up or else they’d dress me up. (Well, they said it in a nicer way - come in costume, and if you don’t, we have costume accessories available.)

I’m also making cookies for work tomorrow. And working on crafts for the craft fair. And seeing if there’s any time at all to practice the clarinet. And reading my new book (which seems to mostly get read on the bus. Read some of it at breakfast today.)

Are you going to sing the hymn, you know the one I mean!

Home from my lunch date.

We went extra special and went to a real sit down restaurant with cloth tablecloths and all. I had chicken Chesapeake with fries and broccoli and she had a crab cake with fries and a salad.
We both got sauerbeef and dumplings to go because that was one of the lunch specials and we were so hungry we couldn’t decide what to get.
I haven’t had sauerbeef and dumplings since 3 boyfriends ago. His mother made it from scratch and she was the only person I ever knew who made it. She made her dumplings the size of baseballs, and I was good if I could eat one. My ex and his brothers would chow down on 3 or 4.

Sah-dog seems to be feeling better. Sah-son got a burger and s’mores milkshake for dinner.

Pet sitting starts tonight after irk.
I want to take a nap

Back from irk.

Irk was actually quite fun today- Rugby League World Cup, so we had all the local bigwigs, and a lot of random entertainment going on, but there weren’t many people actually getting wound up about the score. The 'murricans don’t generally care about Rugby League, and though the Cook Islanders do, they live a long way away, and there’s not very many of them, so there were hardly any there.

This meant a crowd who’d just bought tickets 'cos they were cheap, so they were all pretty happy, and just cheering on basically anything that looked good. Much nicer than dealing with angry people who Really Care About Their Team

I’m going to throw my municipal vote away tomorrow. I’m going to vote against the incumbents as I am an Unimpressed Voter. I consider this a prequel to next year when I shall also be voting against the incumbents.

My grandfather’s usual approach was to vote against the incumbent. He opposed career office-holding.

Home from Evening Prayer over to the church house. We had a Service of Remembrance which is always very nice and kind of sad. MoldyMistress we did indeed sing the hymn, but only the first four verses. We’ll rock out on all eight verses on Sunday with incense, bells, processional all around the church, i.e. the works. YP is big on that kinda stuff. For the curious amongst us, this is the hymn. Sorry for the cheesey organ music.

MOOOOOOM there’ll be no candy beggin’ at da cave either. Not many kids about and the two years in a row I did attempt I might have had three or four kidlets show up. Just ain’t worth it.

I’s tahrd. I think I shall betake myself to the bed and watch some teevee until sleepy time.

Nighty Nite Y’all!
