I wore spikes for the first time in 30 years

The former HS runners will know I’m talking something like these (though a different color & not those gaudy soles). I was at a sporting goods chain going-out-of-business sale a month or two ago & picked them up for less than $12; otherwise, I never would’ve guessed I’d wear a pair of them again.

Ran a (short*) 5k this morning. Their course was much more paved than they let me to believe; they are noisy on macadam/concrete but I ran well & feel so young again!

*as in 2.8 miles instead of 3.1

I last wore spikes in 1980.
Absolutely hated 'em for anything over a mile. Hard plastic spike plate that didn’t bend.
And those were intended for running distance.
Even for cross-country, I wore road flats.

I’m glad modern spikes are as flexible as the rest of the shoe.
