I was wondering how you could possibly claim that a “God” by its very definition, is something vague. So, I asked the biggest authority on words (Dictionary.com), and came up with this definition.
God
A being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions.
The force, effect, or a manifestation or aspect of this being.
Seems quite straightforward to me. You denied being perfect, omnipotent, omniscient, and other things. Ergo, you aren’t God. You were gainsaying.
What makes you think you know the definition of God? On what do you base that? I base mine on this link http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary which sasys you are wrong.
My definition is the root meaning of God. Please provide me with how God can mean something other than the definition I have provided. You’ll find that every use of the word “God” is encompassed by this definition.
There is a difference between the capitalized and non-capitalized versions of the word. A “democrat” is destinct from a “Democrat.” The word “cooper” denotes a barrelmaker, whilst “Cooper” denotes a surname.
Also, there is an obvious difference between “the highest spiritual power” and “the highest spiritual power I percieve from where I stand.”
Do you not deny that there is a difference between, let’s say, the smallest object in the universe and the smallest object you know of?
The two are only the same if you know everything, which nobody does.
To return to the entirely serious question posed by Jonmarzie?
You, sir, are clearly NOT a piece of paper. If you WERE a piece of paper, you would be sitting there waiting for someone to print something out on you instead of typing something TO be printed out on you.
As far as the REAL point of this thread, my position is that I do not require anyone to prove to me that God is real. He is real to me, and although I would like for you all to agree with me…and although I think you would all BENEFIT from knowing that He is real, I do not need to prove it to you.
If you don’t chose to believe in Him, it is certainly none of my business.
Note…I am talking about GOD, and He is certainly NOT ExecutiveJesus. I’ve had many discussions about God on this board, but this is a new one.
PS…I know that I should immediately seek out posts by ExecutiveJesus…so as to figure out what is going on. However, I have also figured out that in THIS particular instance, I’m better off being in denial.
Oh, no it isn’t. Any 'ol god isn’t God. (Note the capitalization). Many stars may be suns, but none of them are the Sun. Capitalization is important, and I don’t think many ascribe to the notion that Athena was God.
I hear people talking about a 'relationship with a higher power". I’ve seen the folks at churches say that God is in their hearts. This suggests to me that they FEEL something FROM God.
I was at those churches, and I did what they told me to do, and I felt nothing (except fear eternal damnation. I was an impressionable youth) I invited Jesus into my heart. He seems to have declined. I’ve tried to non-traditional, earth based stuff…nothin. And just the prayers to God as an undefine deity. Nada.
What’s the story? Let’s say you’re right and God is real. What good does that do me?
I’m really not trying to be an asshole, here. I wanna know. Whatever it is you guys got, I’d like to get ME some, ya know?
By “God”, I am referring to a classification. Being that I see not other gods but, myself, I become “God”. Not plural.

What is the difference between that and “the highest spiritual power”? Existence is really only defined through ourselves - Unless you’d like to suggest something else.
Consider me “dynamite.”
To the OP: I have just printed you on my Epson-brand inkjet. Figuratively, you are paper. In the literal sense, you meet none of the criteria that define “a piece of paper.”
To Jesus: I am God. You are neither my father nor my son. Clearly, you are not God.
From the thread in question:
I made Ayn Rand and Thomas Paine. You are quoting my scripture.
