I would like to propose a toast...

–To your baby’s heartbeat, heard through the stethoscope for the first time.
–To your cat:
He has FANGS!
He has CLAWS!!
He has PINK TOES.
–To all the good you do, large or small, at your job, at home for your loved ones, at school, or here on the SDMB.
–To everyone who is patient, kind, tolerant, or compassionate, even when it’s hard.
–And to the noble artichoke, because artichokes rock!

Been hitting the patriotic sauce, have we? In any case, I’ll drink to that.

To the United States of America on its 235th birthday. Many happy returns!

Here, here - Long Live the USA!

And a drink to all the good folks on these boards!

I just ate the first artichoke from my backyard. It was OM NOM NOM. :D:D:D

When I went to the doctor in May I got to hear my baby’s heartbeat for the first time and it was pretty cool. I’m still a little, “Are you SURE there is a baby in there? I mean, I know I can feel it moving around and I’ve seen sonograms and all, but being pregnant is a foreign concept for me. You promise that’s a baby and not a tumor, right?” about the whole baby thing but it was very neat to be able to hear the heartbeat. When my husband went with me last month for a sonogram they turned on the speakers so he could hear the heartbeat too and his face lit up like a kid who just found a puppy from Santa under the Christmas tree. I thought his reaction was just as awesome as actually hearing the heartbeat for the first time myself.

That was so sweet it almost brought a tear to my eye.

So here’s to your baby raises glass.

Silly thing, babies can’t have booze. I’ll just take that instead…

Just when I think the Dope can’t offer anything weird.

Artichokes? And my cat has black toes.

Well they can…they just shouldn’t.

One of the things I love about my tortie cat is that on one paw her toes alternate between cream and black/brown. So cute!

Just because I raise my glass in salute, doesn’t require that the in-utero child drink alcohol.

Besides, it was a cup of coffee.

Why thank you, BMalion! He just graduated high school.

RedWood: I am soooo jealous! I don’t have a garden.

Cicero: No offense intended. I just find the juxtaposition of long protruding vampire fangs, big scary claws, and pink toes very amusing.

pbbth: It’s a baby, alright. At two a.m. about six months from now, you won’t have any doubt! Congratulations, it’s a whole lotta fun too.

…to Maureen’s noble try.

Please tell me your doctor put on his/her best Arnie voice and said, “It’s not a toomor!”

(Congrats by the way.)

Ha! No, she didn’t do the Ahnold voice. She has a pretty good sense of humor though so she is pretty fun for an OB/GYN.
