Okay, maybe banning is too strong, but she’s playing us like a fucking fiddle here, and it’s making me madder than I’ve ever been here before. Maybe I’m the one who needs to take a step back.
Oh, come on. People were hounding her on how easy it was to track her down, and she took it to heart - she changed her name from something identifiable to something more anonymous. Can’t blame her for taking the advice.

I agree. I posted in her original thread to say she should divorce her husband because he deserves better. But the pile-on in the Pit thread became more than a bit overwrought and hysterical. Unless she’s a complete moron (and I don’t think she is), she got the fucking message so maybe everybody else should just chill, you know?
I’ve always thought that this should be a rule. I’ve commented on it in the past, when long=term members have changed their names without any formal announcement.
Sorry, but this presumes that people know of the name change in the first place.
If someone changes their name without any fanfare or announcement, there’s no reason that anyone would know this, or that anyone would chance on their earlier posts and discover the change.
The only reason anyone was aware of RSSchen’s name change was that she did it while her trainwreck thread was in progress, and also started another thread asking for a change. If she had been smart, she would have let the Pit thread die, then waited a few weeks and discreetly asked for a change of name. It’s possible that no-one would have noticed the change. It’s happened before, with other name changes.

What KSO said. After the second time she back-pedaled to paint herself in a better light, I’d had enough. Just ignore her. That’ll be an appropriate “punishment” if you really want to dole out one. But calling her to be banned is just silly.

The woman provided 564 posts and an incredible 27,105 views of pure, trainwreck-worthy entertainment on a couple of slow news days, and you want to ban her? If she really offended you, you’d just per her on your Ignore list and move on with your life. In banning her, she’d just get exactly what her little BPD mind wants; rightous indignation at how misunderstood she is.

No worries, featherlou, I got the meaning of your reply. I do agree with others that, regardless of the virtue or honesty or issues of the poster in question, your request has no basis in board rules.
I understand what you mean, though, but think of it this way. You’re angry at least in part because she used the board to serve her own emotional needs. While you may not be happy with what those needs are or represent, it’s no different than any other poster who posts things here.

I can’t understand why folks can’t just ignore her posts if she’s so annoying. Unless it’s in GD, I just don’t take this board that seriously. It’s fun, informative, and thought-provoking, but if I find myself getting heated… I log out and do something else.
The poster in question has annoyed me with her posts on other topics, but I think she’s attention-whoring with this particular issue. I might check into a thread to read what drama she’s cooking up, but I don’t intend to engage her. If she irks you, I recommend doing the same.

I think so. Just put her on ignore. Either use the feature or just skip any post with her name on it (that’s what I do, the board’s ignore feature is far too distracting, IMHO).
You are investing more into her than she is right now. She’s not worth that much of you.
I understand where you are coming from. The story changed so much with every one of her posts that it does feel like a cat and mouse job. But, I just don’t see it as bannable.
