If what she posted is true she is a piece of work and is doing shitty things to her family. But the train wreck for the most part was a big stone the sinner pile on. There were a few posts that were not but most were. When someone else is an ass you don’t get a free pass to be an ass also. I don’t remember specifically you saying anything one way or the other but that thread was pretty ugly.
I have to admit, I have no idea what threads you folks are talking about, but i get the impression that RSSchen has not insulted and or threatened anyone on the board. Why is there so much anger in the OP?

If you post a story about your actions and ask for people’s opinions, then you have to be prepared for the possibility that the majority of those people might think you’re an asshole, and might be prepared to tell you so. If you want to characterize that as “stone the sinner,” that’s your right.
It’s not about me. I didn’t make my post in self-defense, or self-justification. If that thread was ugly, it was largely RSSchen’s own doing.

Nope. She did it so she could duck responsibility for her previous posts, hoping to assume a new, uncontentious identity and avoid being further criticized. Fortunately, board rules do not allow that.
And yes, I think the pit thread was entirely justified. The condemnable needs to be condemned, and it is no crime to blame what is blameworthy.
Good fucking grief! The woman clearly has emotional/psychological problems and has had for most of her life! Yes, she exhibits the characteristics you’re all denigrating her for, but…she. can’t. help. it! It’s part of the illness! You might as well berate a cancer patient for having tumors.
One of the most difficult things to do when dealing with someone who has irrational emotional or psychological problems is to acknowledge the fact that their behavior is symptomatic of the illness, and to not hold that person’s behavior against them or condemn them for it. To do so seems to be giving them a free ride to behave wrongfully. But the thing is, like I said above, they can’t help it. Unless the underlying causes are dealt with, the behavior is unlikely to change–at least not permanently–because the behavior isn’t really the problem, it’s the result of the problem.
For one thing, that would be one TINY PONY.
For another…glittering candy shell. Those OTHER ones have a matte- to semi-gloss finish.
But theoretically I think it would have the be the mark from hitting the pony’s tiny nutsack, because it’s funnier.

Perhaps some people’s overwhelming desire to give her a piece of their mind is part of their wellness.
As Helen’s Eidolon said, she was trying to make herself more anonymous. Blame the blameworthy as you will, in this case she is making a smart move far far too late.
I don’t think she should be banned. But if her story’s true I weep for her husband and children. They’re in for a lifetime of pain because of her actions. 
They’ve gotten a far greater mental fucking from her than anyone here.
Okay, I went and calmed down a bit. Let me explain my reasoning a bit, then I will endeavour to leave this alone - it truly isn’t worth any more time, effort, or head space.
In my opinion, RSSchen/MizGrand asked for the name change to avoid the consequences of her actions - she posted too much personal information and posted about too many bad things she’s doing/has done, and she’s afraid of being found out in real life. I wouldn’t be surprised if a secondary reason was for her to try to go forward posting on the Dope with a clean slate - leaving the bad name she’s made for herself behind. We know posters by our usernames and the posting history attached to it; it seems like a cheat to me to build up a bad reputation for yourself, and then just change your username to hide from your past.
I am disappointed in the administrators for helping her avoid the consequences of her actions, because that is the last thing she needs - people enabling her particular pathology of consequence avoidance, but I understand why TubaDiva did it. Covering the ass of the Chicago Reader is the reason for decisions made here, and I get that.
In any other poster, it would simply be a username change, and not have any baggage associated with it. Tuba would have to be a lot more stupid than I give her credit for if she didn’t realize that RSSchen/MizGrand’s username change wasn’t going to be met with the usual disinterest of a username change, considering the circumstances that prompted it.
It is just a message board, I realize that, too, but it is also a community. I see this decision as doing some damage to the integrity of our community and our members, but the administrators and other members obviously don’t completely agree with me, so I will consider that I am over-reacting. We have had chronic liars in our midst before; they were eventually banned. I think RSSchen/MizGrand will probably end up there herself at some point, but I guess she hasn’t done anything ban-worthy yet.
I do think we need to be careful in our dealings with her since she is so untrustworthy (whether from choice or from disorder, the results are the same) , and she and the administrators have made that more difficult with the track-covering name change, and I think that is what is making me so angry.
People take this place too seriously.
